Hey guys, this is my first Batrep and its not going to be too great of one because i dont have any pics :( but I hope Yall enjoy

I played Tau and as this is my first game with the new dex i made a couple list build errors(lack of crisis and/or riptide)

Tau

Commander - Drone Controller, CIB,MP,TL ,VRT, and c&c node(never used it, mostly because i forgot about it)

x3 x10 Fire Warriors- bonded,emp,shas, 2 MLD

x6 Stealth suits, 2 fusion, 2 TL, 4 Counter Defense, shas marker,TL, 2 MLD

x2 x8 Pathfiders- 2 ion rifles,1 rail rifle

x12 Drones - 6MLD 6GD

x3 Missilesides - FNP(should,ve taken interceptor), 6MD

x2 Railsides with skyfire

Necrons!(not super familiar with em but here goes)

Lord - warscythe and MSS

Destroyer Lord - Warscythe, MSS

x4 Wraiths

x2 x10 Warriors, ghost arks

x9or10 Lychguard with scythes

x2 x3 scarabs

x5 deathmarks and an additional leader dude that has some S8 ap1 flame template weapon

So We've got a decent amount of terrain lots of LoS blocking stuff and some barriors that might as well have been aegis so we gave em a 3+ when they were against it. We got the mission with 2 main objectives in each base and we got the diagonal deployment. He holds his deathmarks and doomscythe in reserve. I reserve some FW and Infiltrate my Stealths(stupidly)

Tau goes first

On turn one i started by taking my Mark'o Squad and lighting up a squad of scarabs. 5 Marker Hits, 2 hits from missle pods downs two bases and im off to a good start. Next I choose to jump my stealthsuits close to the monolith. Makes it to within about 13 inches(the reason i say stupily infiltrated me stealths within 12" of his wraiths hoping i would out jump em. total lapse of judgement on my part. my opponent is even like,"dude if you put them there my Wraiths will eat them". I should have listened and deepstruck them in by the cover that was by his home objective). I fire both Fusion Blasters and Whiff Twice. The other 4 memebers of thesquad shoot at some wraiths that are standing in front of the mono with the destroyer lord in with them. They manage to wound 2 wraiths once each(they were at the same exact distance) and then they jump back behind the cover they infiltrated into. My missile sides finish off one scarab squad to net my first blood, while a pathfider squad and a FW work to take out 2 bases of the other scarab squad. Not Great, But not a bad first go

His turn starts and he advances everthing except for a Squad of warriors that is in ruins sitting on an objective with their ghost ark and another squad sitting behind our fake aegis with their ghost ark. The wraiths as promised move up. the stealths get shot by the mono getting 2 kills even with 2+ cover. I use my BS2 Overwatch to wound two more wraiths(he moved the 2 unwounded ones up the exact same distance to be in front of the charge) they then get munched in the assault phase mostly due to rending and weight of attacks, damn ap2. They then consolidated behind some LoS blocking stuff. His scarab also runs out of sight.

TURN 2

My FW show up from reserve. Only 2 MLD and the new FW can see the wraiths. The MLD both fire and one hits! hell yeah bs2! I up the BS of the FW score 9 hits like 3 or 4 wounds and magically he fails 2 saves and 2 wraiths die! WOO! My missilesides, the mark'o x1pathfiders and x1 FW all move off towards the the warriors on his objective to attempt to dismantle him. Snapshotting MLs and to kill 2 warriors which miraculously stay dead( my cousin and i always joke about his ability to bring entire squads back at a time).

On the crons turn everything continues to advance except his warrriors, oh and guess what! his Doomscythe and his marks come on. The marks dont scatter. The end up killing a rail side. The doom scythe comes in and manages to kill 2 missile drones and a missile side. They are unphased by it! Its tesla guns shoot the nearby FW and it bounces from FW to Missile Side to Pathfinders killin a drone, 2 FW and fails to wound my pathfinders. His DL and 2 remaining wraith jump from one set of cover to the other, all the while staying out of my LoS.

TURN 3

My MSides, finders and FW continue towards his objective kind of on the far flank trying to get within 30 inches, made it! I reposition the reserve FW towards the Deathmarks(who marked my anti air railsides btw). Ive got to take out that doomscythe!!! the 2 FW and pathfinder squads camping my objective are about to get zapped into oblivion. Alright railside with skyfire(i literally Only took these guys to kill the doomscythe and try to kill the mono, i chose them over a squad of crisis.... , oh well!!) lets do this! Whiff! TLED!!!! Score, and aaaaa......glance. Joy. He opts to take the loss of hullpoint instead of juking. SMS not in range. DAMN!!! Now what? Look like its up to my missile sides. I Fire the Mark'o first and missed with everything, the marker drones and the commander. Well I guess its the MSides turn and if they fail then im stuck to hoping for 6's on 6's just to glance. They shoot. Between 2 missile sides amd 4 drones I scored i scored 4(maybe five) hits and 3 of them Penned!! I got 1 or 2 glances with my SMS too! He opts to Jink and manages to save all three pens but fails the saves for the glances and dies....Thank the Dice Gods!! The pathfinders and the 4singleFW in range fire at the warriors on his objective and the 2 ion rifles overcharge now that they are in range and all 3 special weapons whiffed. The FW kill a warrior or 2. 1 stands back up.

On his turn he realizes im hunkering down and not really going after his troops he throws them his non objective warrior squad and runs off to help provide cover to the ever advancing wraiths, lychguard, and monolith. The monolith starts things off by killing the rest of my missile drones which causes my broadsides to run like pussies! Also with his mono he takes out all 3 special weapons from the nearby finders squad and a few FW. Im starting to drop like flies! His 2 wraits with DL jump up and ate the ONLY FW squad that had any chance of killin the mono. I was actually just really happy they didnt stay in combat. Then his deathmarks finish off my lonely railside with waaaaay more than enough wounds and the s8 ap1 flamer was just overkill.

The FINAL TURN (unfortunately for my opponent we had to end early because i had to leave to pick up my GF from work. ended up being 2 and ahalf hours late as i was 80 miles away from home. she was mad but glad i had fun )

My Msides Rally, wooo!! At this point im just trying to survive, but also realize that i have to leave 15 minutes ago. So we both finish our 4th turn because the whole game could swing pretty easily. At this point we are tied. I have First Blood and he has line breaker. First things first there is a wraith squad that needs to die. I fire my Mark'o at it. 6 marker hits plus the CIB and MP end up doing a wound(we gave them toughness 6 instead of majority T rule and i rolled poorly, whoops lol) With 6 markers i spend 4 of them to take my snapfiring missilesides all the way up to bs5 and they almost make a daring escape but get taken down at last after 16 bs5 missles(oh yeah n my 3 finders that were left over there totally use their carbines to no avail before the msides shot) My other pathfinders turn their attention to the death marks and do 2 wounds between the ion rifle and 5 carbines that he doesnt end up saving. Then i shoot 8 FW from the next squad but only the MLDs hit. Both of them at bs2. With the last squad i have I give them BS5 and they do 10 hits and 9 wounds and he only fails the last couple saves he needed. to keep them from even getting their WBB rule.

He Moves everything forward as we discuss his choice. attempt to kill the warlord to tie the game? or get 2 squads of FW to flee with the majority of shooting he brought in his army to get me off my objective and win rather than tie? Easy decision as he moves his ghost army around the terrain to get even more shots at the 2 FW teams. Whip coil first. Blam!!! 4 inch scatter still hits 9 dudes. I fail 2 from one squad but save all the rest! holy crap!!! Next he uses the sponsons on the corners and takes out 2 more! The one squad. They get scared and flee the board! Down to one FW squad. They manage to eat the ghost ark and its troops all shot. they took 3-4 wounds and passed LD! WOOOOO!!!!! I get uberfreaking lucky and we end the game because i have to leave! Thank god! I win by one point. If there had been a turn 5(maybe 6 but doubtful) i would have been tabled. No iff ands or buts about it.


Overall i realised i Need either some Anit armor crisis or a riptide, and i need to place my stealths better.....i always end up suiciding them. they have a very low survival rate and a mediocre damage ouput when i use them careless but none the less it was A LOT! of fun to play a game with a 6ed codex from the army that i fell in love with, and dumped eldar for(before i really started playing i was thing eldar. Then i saw the tau codex come out......before we got empire attached to our name.......) Not only play but actually have a decent shot at winning.
