I am currently working on my Iron Warriors, Chaos Daemons and Ravenwing armies along with doing final touches on my RoB board. Instead of having multiple hobby blogs I've decided to consolidate them all into one, so much easier for updates.

To kick off the blog here's some pics of my Heldrake that I recently finished:









I used my funky new Windsor Newton series 7 brush for the highlights. I am still getting used to working with a thin sharp brush, so the highlights could be better. I also added some Forge World weathering powder to the baleflamer and rear thrusters.

Keeping on the Iron Warriors I did these guys too. These now give me four complete five man squads. Just another two units to go and then onto the Havocs, Cultists and Sorcerers. I need to get some bits for my Sorcerers to finish them off and also get FW autocannons for the Havocs.





Lastly some test Ravenwing. I need to go over the vale feathers some more with white. My intention had been dry brush and have a strong blow showing through. Maybe two coats of blue wash followed by heavy dry brush of ceramite white?



I am still in progress of converting my Ravenwing to wysiwyg and I have finished out thrashing lists. At the moment I am converting units into Black Knights and also switching bolters out on the Command Squad for plasma talons. Will be sometime before I paint these, though will probably do them to break up the Iron Warriors.

Long over due an update.

I decided to go Emperor's Children in the end for my CSM. I really fancy something messed up and I've always like E.C so they are now my home boys. I did these test models a few days ago:



Since this pic I have tidied the models up a bit and used black wash which gives better shadows. Previously I tried baal red wash and then devlan mud, but black makes stronger shadows.

I have received some of these:



Cracking bits and I am really impressed with them. I've added these onto converted Havocs (working on converted blastmasters counts as autocannons), though I've ordered another set as I want half my army using these. I need another two sets altogether and another set of heads, then I'll be a happy bunny.

I also did some work on my Realm of Battle board. I finally got these tank traps done. I really should have done them earlier as they wasn't time consuming:



I need to finish off two bits of area terrain, these just need flocking and going painting. I might dry brush some of my buildings, but considering most of them are done and had the details picked out I'll be doing more work. I also need to deco a couple of building bases and shape a few more.

The helldrake is great and I like your tank traps, though I am partial to a more black-dominated E.C scheme.

Hey dude your helltrukey looks awesome and the iron warriors look like a good tabletop standard but your emperors children look like you need ti thin your paint, maybe its the camera?

Thin that pink down next time, and also maybe paint the hoses on the helmets. The guy in the middle looks really off. I daresay someone else painted the pink ones compared to the other marines.

The pink probably looks thick because it is multiple coats to get coverage. The base coat is pink horror which is washed black and then I go over with emperor's children, though it needs a few coats to get a nice even coverage. If I water it down it would take more coats and maybe work out the same. I guess it is worth a try. It is also possible the paint job is thicker because these models had been painted Iron Warriors, which I then painted over with purple and then finally settled on the pink. They have two coats of boltgun metal, two coats of genestealer purple, two coats of pink horror and probably two coats of emperor's children. In between there's the washes too. I guess I should have stripped them. I'll get some pics up of others which I did after and they can be compared.

I have painted the hoses on the helmets and now looks loads better.

On a further note I did make these blastermaster conversions which are counts as autocannons.

Almost finished this Vindicator. Just need to do fine line highlights of 50/50 white and pink and then grey on the black.



Done the Chaos Marine on the left differently; painted the pink and then used wash to pick out the shadows. Chaos Marine on the right I washed entirely over base pink horror and then picked out the shadows with emperor's children. The Chaos Marine on the left looks to have a smoother job, though I need to finish the eyes and do some more cleaning up.

Second Vindicator work in progress. I finished the other one, I'll get some pics up soon.

Nice start on your models (I just can't say no to a good EC blog) I'm interested to know whether your planning on repainting the heldrake and iron warriors in EC colours or will they remain the same?

Have you thought of using a a bright colour such as green or yellow to pick out the tubing on the helmets etc. as at the minute there is maybe a little too much pink.

I notice you're using Kromlech shoulder pads and Helmets and they look great. Have you thought about using the raptor set for bits and pieces as most parts of the mini's have speakers in one form or another and may work well for what you are doing.

Consider me subd.

Yes I will be re-painting the Heldrake. I've got plans to paint the wing panels pink and then the body black along with the neck, though will do the head pink. I've got another Heldrake, which I'll do reverse colour scheme.

I've painted the pipes on the helments boltgun metal; looks loads better.

The kromlech stuff is nice though the heads seem a little small. I have got some CSM Possessed stuff which I have used, same look as the Raptors, though sourcing bits from there would be nice too.

Finished the second tank over the weekend. All I need to do is add legion iconography and re-do the black wash on the mostly pink Vindie and change it to red.

Working on a Heldrake and Obliterators at the moment.

Nearly finished Heldrake, I just need to do pink highlights to finish it off.

Originally I thought I had finished this last night, but after looking at it again in the morning I need to do some more work; metal trim on the front needs tidying up a little bit, face needs highlights and another coat of wash, the back bit of the cape needs to be tidied up and the sword needs to be done black - I didn't realise it was meant to be black or else I would have done it last night.

Nearly there though, won't take me long to finish Sammy off.

I have decided I am going to do a Chaos Daemons flying circus list, though going to put my own spin on it, Dark Mechanicus! I think a robo daemon force is pretty cool and something I have wanted to do for a long time.

This is a counts as Keeper of Secrets. It isn't fully finished yet as the tattered cape needs finishing off and the mutated tail and torso need some more greenstuff work.

Almost finished this Wave Serpent. Found out my 'ardcoat had turned to jelly, though I need to get a darker purple for the gems as they just look flat.

Looking good so far mercer, its going to be nice following you do all you new armies in one thread. Love the Heldrake looks rather good with the pink and gold trim.

The Heldrakes are gone, dude. I was going to use them in CSM army, but I couldn't get used to the slow CSM army compared to fast xenos.

I am going to re-do the Wave Serpent as I found out the new foundation yellow isn't the same colour as the previous yellow...

Just finished these, well almost, I need to add the custom base.
