Here is a crater I made today. I wanted to try a technique I thought of while cruising the aisle of Home Depot. I use a portion of a VCT tile as the base and then glued a bunch of random broken pieces to form up the crater. Then a bit of paint and random bits to make it a bit more alive. The VCT tile is nice because it is nice and thin but "sets" down on the table nice with a bit of weight.

Let me know what you think. I plan on making a couple more of these.

I'd keep them darker in the center, where the focus of the heat and blast would have been, but otherwise I really like it! Some snips of wire sticking out from under some of the tile pieces, or glued to the end would make good re-bar. I also like to cut up bits of sprue in random shapes and sizes for filler debris.
