Ok, I thought I took some pics earlier in the process, but I can't find them now...anyhow...
To make a long story short, I do a lot of tinkering with my models, and love to magnitize options on them....the new Tau broadsides presented me with a special challenge - there was no easy way to magnetize the main weapon options.
So, after a lot of tinkering and cutting, and head scratching I came up with the following;
Basically, I cut the main Heavy rail rifle at a place where I thought it would be a good joint, and a missile fist thing would not look out of place on it.
The first one I needed a bit of plasticard in there to square things up a bit, but so far, once I started painting them (they are not done yet....still working on them) I think they look decent.
Took a lot of sanding here and there, and a tiny bit of filler (the sensor on top of the pod is what makes it twin linked for the purists out there....what part don't you believe?) and so far I am pretty happy with them.
I tried to take pics showing the parts separate (also where you could see the cuts, and the magnets) and together.
Once I get them all put together and painted up, I think the "missile rifle" will look pretty cool as well.
If there is any interest, I might do more of a tutorial if I get another broadside later....
any questions or comments appreciated...
