Hello Dakka, I like many before have lurked around the forms, mainly the P&M blog site.

Like many others I have found some motivation from reading and looking at others successes, and I hope to carry this motivation with me into my own blog.
while I loath the latest rules for fantasy I still enjoy modeling them, and I have been thinking of playing some minor games of 40k lately so I need to get them modeled at painted as well.

Also like many I have a large collection of other models I would like to get to as well.
This is my list of things I would like to get done in the coming days and weeks (hoping the list keeps me on track)

Grey knight in power armour
2 hoard trolls (for a friend)
1 tomb guard
1 necrofid
another Grey Knight
2 more trolls

I think this should get me started I will try and post wip as they happen for now here are a couple of more or less done figures!

Figured I would talk a little about my Grey Knights. I fell in love with them back in the old demon hunters codex and loved the fluff that went with them.

One thing that bothers me in the new codex is the amount of swords they handed out. Original the swords were very rare only given out to those deemed worth.
Keeping that in mind is how most of my army is being planned and thought out. even though the last few have not been named or anything put on their purity seals all of them will be named and have the seals done.

So I present the 2 termies that are painted and the latest power armored troop

Not to much done today, at least not as much as I would have liked got the main body of the psylincer guy done and the arms blocked in, let me tell that gun is a pain in the .

I might get him done tomorrow with a little luck, although there is parent teacher meetings and a dentist appointment as well.

Kinda proud of my oldest girl she has shown interest in painting so I have given her a couple old models to play around with and she is doing fairly well. needs to learn a few more things and she will be out doing her old man in no time!

And on a good note I picked up an airbrush today, nothing fancy just an entry level 2 stage gun, now I need a compressor, I just wish they were not all over the $100 buck mark.
oh well give it time I should get a deal some place

as always Thanks for looking!

Managed to get some more done on my psylincer guy, though he was done then I took a pic of him ... man it sucks getting old my poor eyes just don't see so well anymore.
as you can tell from the pics there is some more touch ups to do which I'll do tomorrow.

on an exciting note if I can manage to get all my Knights done in about a months time I get to play!
so some of my other projects will get shelved for now

The other day I managed to win a few more old GK termies which will fill out my squad nicely
I have 5 more GK to build think i'll make them interceptors
1 rino to build
3 karskins to paint for my inquisitors body guards
and I have to track down an inquisitor
all told I should be in the 750 points range

now for the pic to show how bad my eyes are

Eh, you have some great looking minis, so your eyes can't be that bad

Love your GK scheme because they aren't Silver It's great to seem some alternative colors.

Have you considered using a magnifying glass of some sort to help you with your painting?

I never cared for silver as a main color eiather, not too sure what I am going to do when my paint pot runs out its the old shadow grey which they don't make any more hopefully I can find something close

as for the magnifying glass I have used one in the past can't say as I enjoy them but its looking like I may have to start weather I want to or not!

As always thanks for looking! I am enjoying sharing my models with the Dakka comunity!

Today was a day of small disappointments in my hobby world.

the first being that I thought 10 models came in a box of GK's its only 5
the second being that I only have a predator to work with I was going to just turn it into a rino but it turns out I had put it mostly together.
for the life of me I could not pry the back section off, so I thought I would just got for a razorback. unfortunately no weapon mounts.
so I cobbled something together what do you think?
not sold on it but shipping for the right parts is ridiculous!!!!

@igice, great work so far. I'd look at using a wash to help define the armor sections and give depth to the models. The old shadow grey is now called "the fang" now, here's a link to a good resource for old GW paint colors to the new colors. https://dl.boxcloud.com/bc/2/b0bca2238b2449a6a53df2716ff94cdf/oxsr6n5bVQhyic6N7TfrMf0sVTkQUOBIH0HsZBGRDI0si84Chpt_3ZjzaZYMPOwbyyATOQjCMtuz5i34lvwOP7laCJPZx1i9rxtAZQkKovVyTgEZYV0QKwIJMUpXuGrxlcND5AbpDji_eu4IYArKlNB7YEZmoTUyUKW1Z5CalKzhqD9SaEmJ-3Ad-oNj_SOSXhsPbK3rdPTyubp3ZdaEsY82NS_FMWSxb9buW_qt8ygMt0Y3NnjwQr6Y-Ea-d9GF5Ze2JiapHjzSov3tzDvhSyo_tTnT1l_JYPOf_e-_KWcG8nfACzAcm02FV9VmNFrGNOgwTwZsyfPzjI3A761WfUsalKs7vzpTHO2U9RUouDm1DMqkJAEOqoNC6iTGdShBV95xes8NsDMib4EsaDAoFw7jhsaLfKQT3vPvIQGp4oyalqa4Ob9NL3p8Epaa5CSrJliEIEHHbyRCw7W0josJ3dgOZnkMW9Q-cbfnMlpy0mhMnd--oFzv4i1c0XCgVLSFRdS0EXnytn4wfFw9DLYZXxA415-nDtIucfj2hryzbNfdkY1bhWuWxFKB7k2dko2qM5taFEb6rKobxSavwlphcN0isgQW2r5KBkffl3UlavDsZnZuv3ifL8o6Ug3vCy7qs-KBvM_hmnRFQeCxunkG8YdngZa6bbVBi60fU90RpPIY9RrOyhoFzKc0AUVNT14PUSiVTEa1WRniZTE-ThSjYQHjnpx6dtECUdhRgM-WXw4j2CRgKXt-nsnlAMuB8riTrH3MEdoQvQz5tBtqJEcKRBi4P_vOi5lBFvR6EySw4k_J5R4B-cm40DYrNlPhlo9f28EiTr9DpIPLnTquAdatovHIjgQxR6afLnMDiMmdjM3rgiUc_njWpnlK2DB0GUCw/d1f4291c4427ef0813c9da314fdc70bd721a658f07ecde2b4c60f7ffcd431fc2/

Just make sure you don't give an overall wash. At least, IMHO, I think the power armies look great when you wash the recesses, the wires, the small slits when plates meet, between fingers, all that. When you just wash the entire model I feel it looks too dark, and you can always paint it back up, sure, but since our time is so limited, I feel it's better to skip this step.

I did how ever do a little last night and attempted to wash a model. not sold on it but when I get home from work I'll have another look at it in better light ad see what I think.

thanks for the C&C guys keep it coming!

I learned a valuable less tonight. air brushes rock for the most part unless your using a can of propellent and it keeps freezing up!
That being said it still did a nice job putting the base coat down on the razorback!

I did some shading on the GK and its ok, however I still um not 100% sold on it. I think I need to do it some more and possibly use a different color to shade than the black I tryed

please let me know what you think!!

The GK looks damn good the wash really added a lot of depth and detail to his armor.

Oh, and I always love to see Karskin miniatures painted ^^ That armor has such a cool look.

Concerning the Servo-Skulls, it seems you have some choices:

Definitely liking the halberd blades, the really bright yellow brings out a nice contrast to your darker armor (also a big fan of the non-standard silver for GK's - kudos there)

Are you planning on doing anything with the stormbolter mounted on the vambrace?

Thanks Knightly I am a huge fan of your blog and your knights!

I honestly haven't decided as yet. the plain red should be broken up I think but I am unsure how to do it. I would like to do more than just paint the sights silver like many have done
i did it the brassy colour on one of them its not bad but still..... plain if you know what I mean.

Any ideas are most welcome!

Small update tonight, got a big surprise tonight a friend had given me some of his old war hammer figures a long time back I never did open the box... until tonight
what I found made me giggle with joy!
a whole squad of karskins......heavy weapons and all!!!!!!!!

they were primed black so I have them sitting in solution to clean them to get them primed white

the other update is I don't have the cash for a vindicator assassin and well I really want one for my army.
in that same box was some Cadians I mocked one up what do you think?

Ah, now that's what I call luck. MORE KARSKINS!

I think you should cover his face with GS as if he had a ski-mask. His weapon looks cool and his position is great too, but a vindicare assassin with his face revealed just sounds wrong to me

The mask is a good idea acually. I have been toying around with the idea of a gilliy suit, the only thing tha is holding me back is my GS skills.
as its starting on to fall here I may take a walk andd see if I can find some natural materials for a suit!

I think it would be easier if you created a "40K Army Lists" thread asking for advice. I'm sure the GK experts would be more than happy to help.

Oohh, the hammer looks damn nice. The shiny inquisitor symbol is a good touch.

The Razorback looks like he needs some serious shading tho, at least near the raised surfaces, just to make it look better, and some edge highlighting would make it look even better.

Keep'em coming and do tell us about your first game
