I'll be brutally honest, it doesn't look finished. The color scheme looks like you have a great start, but adding a wash and/or a basic set of highlights to the colored areas will REALLY help set this model apart.

As far as the white claws and tail, you might want to add a darker base color like a bleached bone and then shade into white towards the tip, which once again, will add more depth.

Do you think a brown weathering powder would look better on it?

Weathering powder may look good, but you need to add some depth and highlights. A good brown wash would go a long ways, and some bright blue highlights on the carapace is a must. Great start, just needs a little more detail.

The color scheme is awesome.

I would take some purple wash and hass it in the little recesses of the plates. Would add a lot of depth.

Otherwise looks awesome!

Looks like its a perfect candidate for the dipping method.

Hit the model with a few washes, Leviathan Purple on the carapace, Baal Red on the shin/everything else.

I am having a hard time telling the difference between these pictures and the first set. I would be a bit more liberal with the washes - for Fleshy tones I usually do an Ogryn Flesh (not sure on new name) and then Leviathon Purple. The purple provides alot of depth.

Then hit it with a drybrush of your base shade.

The plates look like an ideal candidate for a hit of a blue wash, then a highlight color. I have a similar 'flehsy' theme for my slaanesh Daemons, not to hijack your thread at all but the result is here:

take a picture with a dark background. You can't see any color difference with the white background.
