Hey everyone, I've been on this forum for a few months now and just recently finished a small 1100 point space wolves DIY chapter. After learning the basics and picking up my skills again from when I was a teenager I'm now ready to commit solidly to an Iron Warrior army. I've got 10 chaos warriors, 6 chosen and 1 aspiring champion to knock over so far but for now here is my first complete Iron Warrior, minus the base completion. Let me know what you think, all C&C very welcome. Cheers

Very nice. I love to see a chaos army that's not all Nurglish.

Good job on the bolter. I would maybe do 3 stripes of yellow instead of two! Looks great.

Lighting is a bit dark to fully see everything but what is visible looks very well executed.

Cheers!

Looks great, but as mentioned above a few more stripes on the boltgun would really make it pop!

Fantastic work! keep it up

Yep 100% agree with you guys. I'll redo those hazard markings tonight. Apologies for the dark photo, I really don't know how I can improve the quality of my photos, I have a very average setup haha

Looks good. I would do the black and yellow strip pattern on the bottom section of one the legs too. But no need it looks good.

My own chapoter, The Broken Swords. Almost a full company.

Yeah I was definitely going to add that in on some of the other troops. Just sorta mix it up a bit, legs shoulder pads etc etc thanks for the C&C

I went back and re painted the hazard markings on the bolter. Much more happier with the model now and the base is complete. This will be the general basis of my iron warrior army. My next update will be the whole squad. Cheers

I know you're trying to create a weathered effect, but you spared some black on the black hazard stripes. I know it's normally a no-no, but you really want to make the black stripes completely solid.

Very nice. You did a much better job on the stripes than I did.
Plus it's always good to see more of the sons of perturabo.

Hey there sorry to question you but I'm a little confused about what you mean? Little bit more of an explanation and I would be glade to fine tune. I'll post a photo up of the one I completed last night has more hazard markings. Really want to get them down pat and have people happy with them before I tackle more of the army

Just posting my second model up to give everyone more of an idea of the hazard markings they seem to be upsetting a few people haha Just want them perfect as I hope to enter this army in parades next year. As per usual all C&C is strongly encouraged

Well. You might be going up against me and my "bloodborn" lol. Hazard stripes can be difficult though dude. Though what I think quarterdime meant is your black stripes look a little see through. Don't get me wrong though, your iron warriors are at least as good if not better than mine. Check out my "building the blood born" thread in p&m. I'd really appreciate the views of another IW painter

Normally even when you're painting stripes you want to avoid flat colors. Normally, you want the edges of the stripes to contrast just a little bit more against the adjacent stripe to make it pop. In this case, he had some metallic scrapes on the black stripes. It doesn't look good on the hazard stripes imo, and I think it'd be a good idea to leave the stripes flat and intact.

Okay boys to easy!! Funny how iron warriors take like an hr to paint but the hazard stripes can cause so many issues! I 100% totally agree with everything that is said here and I will take it on board before I advance on a huge army. I personally think maybe the haArd markings need more yellow. But anywho ill work on this

Love to mate. I'm an iron warrior officially of maybe 7 days so I'm probably not one to make an opinion. So guys, iron warrior enemies.. Who is the main contestant

Thankyou! Yeah every single figure so far has either one or two separate hazard markings on there armour or bolter. Once the squad is finished ill post detailed photos. Hazard stripes have been a big issue haha

I would say that you should make sure all hazard stripes look to be about 45 degrees from the main lines of the object. Dunno if that even makes any sense to you but that is the best I can say it.

Yeah I totally no what your saying. I'm pretty sure the bolters are down pat, but the shoulder pads I've so far painted up, start 45 and follow the curvature of the shoulder pad, which isn't right. I'll have to revisit them tonight. I'm only 5 figures deep of my 1200 point iron warriors army I have sitting here so I will have plenty of practice haha

Thanks very much! Appreciate it. Yeah I think I will leave them. My photography isn't really complimenting the models at all. Thanks again

Nice.
I am thinking about starting an iron warriors chapter too, with a similar paint scheme. I like the thought of doing it without the strait up boltgun metal look. Keep it coming.

I think I'll take some better pictures today. Yeah this is actually GW armour scheme for necrons, Boltgun, agrax wash, sepia wash, then chainmail highlight. Gives them an aged look. Such an easy army to paint. Highly recommend it

Hey there everyone! My first squad of iron warriors is complete. Included is 8 bolter troops, one auto and one plasma, led my a chosen count as aspiring champion. I'm seriously struggling with photography I feel that it's letting down my work, so I have taken these on my phone. Hope you all get the general idea. Monday I'll start with more painting. Cheers
