Hi Guys,

I have primed my whole tyranid army in necronic flesh army painter spray but am unsure what colours would work well with it. I have an airbrush and like the airbrush effect on models. Can you advise me on what colours you think would work well with this?

Advice appreciated

Thanks

Literally anything! Depends what effect you want really. As a suggesting I would say a sepia wash on the flesh followed by a bone highlight. As for the carapace, do you want a block colour, feathered...?

A block carapace would be a single solid colour on the carapace, with some edge highlighting or more often a wash and a drybrush to give it some shading.

An example...

Feathered carapace uses a technique of contrasting lines on the edges of the carapace, although it is a lot more time consuming, it can give some very good results, and isn't that difficult to learn.

An example...

I really like the classic purple colour but I have seen some orange models that looked awesome.
Since you have an airbrush you will be able to make some nice transitions from dark to light which is nice.

I would say orange would be a little more original than the purple but whatever you like. I have seen some nice medium to light blue models before which is nice as well.

A light flesh colour gives you quite a few options. Something in the purple/red//brown part of the spectrum may work best, although I've seen some tyranids done with very vivid colours including blue armour plating that worked bloody well.

the T. Guard is feathered using custom blends of black/teal, the warrior at bottom us my version of block, using the same colors.

Blue carapaces usually look pretty awesome. I'm a big fan of purple, check out my gallery if you want to see some bone and purple Tyranids - easier to do than you think, too!

My carapace is really simple but looks.good. Its just black with a gloss varnish. Then flesh is white with purple wash in the joints, recesses and muscle tears
