Hey all.

Now I've had my Imperial Guard (Steel Legion figures) army sitting here for months, base coated with chaos black but without any other paint on them. So I've decided that I'm going to get them all done, all 74 figures over the next couple of months and finish this army. My main problem has been not being able to decide a paint scheme. I did think about trying to typical mustard coated Steel Legion look, however as my army (despite using the figures) isn't actual steel legion I figured that I wanted something different and after much research I eventually came across this image below (see bottom of post) and want to replicate it as closely as I can.

I haven't been able to find a larger picture of this (this one was found on an archived version of the old gw website. So my first question is if anyone knows where this image can be found elsewhere, such as older codex's or a white dwarf. Even better if anyone knows the painter or a brief tutorial on how to paint it.

Anyway, I've tried to figure my own way of painting it, and just want to see if this makes sense, whether any of you know how i'd improve it as I've had no experience painting dark grey or turquoise.

Coat:
-Undercoat with Mechanicus Standard Grey. (Adeptus Battlegrey)
-Wash with Nuln Oil. (Badab Black Wash)
-Highlight with Mechanicus Standard Grey. (Adeptus Battlegrey)
-Further Highlight of Dawnstone. (Codex Grey)

Coat Striples:
-Paint fine zig-zag line of Abaddon Black. (Chaos Black)
-Highlight with Tau Light Ochre leaving black at edge. (Vomit Brown)

Leather:
-Basecoat with Abbaddon Black. (Chaos Black)
-Highlight of Dawnstone. (Codex Grey)

Goggles:
-Basecoat of Sotek Green. (Hawk Turquoise)
-Highlight of Jade Green.

Metal:
-Basecoat of Ironbreaker. (Chainmail)
-Highlight of Runefang Steel. (Mithril Silver)

Flesh:
- Basecoat of Cadian Fleshtone. (Tallarn Flesh)
- Wash of Reikland Fleshshade. (Ogryn Flesh)
- Highlight of Cadian Fleshtone. (Tallarn Flesh)

So that is my take of the paint scheme. Does anyone have a different way of doing a fairly dark grey or a nice Turquoise? Basically just asking for other people's techniques or if they have a better way of doing it. I also have a total of 74 figures to paint so if anyone knows a way of simplifying this to its absolute basics that would be awesome. Look forward to some replies.

Cheers for reading
