This is my first painted blood angels model. I have had a go, but what do you think?

Are you going to paint the shoulderpad's rim?

Pretty good for a start. Are you going to pick out any other details such as the eyes? Or are you going to get a squad done to that level and then go back and pick them out?

The shoulder pad rim can be red, that's absolutely fine. Green or blue is a good eye colour for Blood Angels.

See the little metal "pipes" or whatever he has going from his cheeks into his mouth grill? I'd paint those the metal you've painted on other places.

Green eyes are a good contrast for blood angels. As for trim most blood angels I've seen don't do a trim color, but do different company markings on the shoulders. But in the end they are your models so paint them how you want to.

Looks like a great start. The edges of the shoulder pads are often painted according to company number. For example, the 5th company is usually painted black by a codex observant chapter. But it is up to you depending on what you like.

You are right about the pic quality! It is har dto tell about some of the details. Did you shade anything? Perhaps use drybrushing or washes to add depth to the paint job?

This board is lousy with awesome painters that are more than willing to give help and suggestions.

Blood angels don't paint the shoulder pad colors differently. The only really different shoulder pads are sergeants, which are black with red edges. I'd also paint the exhausts on the backpack, as well as the wiring on the pack behind the marine's head. I think others have covered everything else. The hazard with BA is that when painted...They still look awfully red, haha. The best way to help that is highlight edges. I have some ASM in my gallery that show that(I highlighted too extremely though IMO).
