Hey guys, I toyed around last year (pun intended) with bringing LAMs from Battletech into X-wing and came up with the following. I haven't tested out the rules much (only in solo games) so no points values are attached yet. Bascially, each model would have the three LAM modes to choose from and you'd select choose which mode (and the appropriate mini) you'd be using for the turn when placing the dial. I'm posting them here to hopefully see if there are any critical flaws in what I came up with that fresher eyes can find.
LAM: attack2 defense3 hull3 shields0 Actions: focus, target lock, evade Upgrades: Torpedoes, Modifications
Mech Mode
1/2 speed B-wing maneuvers, only red maneuver is 2 K flip
Fire Arc all but rear (turn base insert backwards, fire arc everything except the rear indicated arc), Cannot use Torpedoes
AirMech Mode
Millenium Falcon Dial
Barrel Roll
Fire arc full front (half of base)
Aerospace Fighter Mode
A-wing dial
Barrel Roll, boost
Variants:
Trainer Mech: PS1 Crew Upgrade
Rookie Lance Pilot: PS2
AWACS Variant: PS2 Sensor Upgrade
Veteran Lance Pilot: PS3 Elite Pilot Upgrade
Elite Lance Pilot: PS4 Elite Pilot Upgrade
Modifications:
Ablative Armor: Add S2, add two missile options. Mech mode Only, discard card if other mode selected
Booster Armor: Add S1, add Add Missile Option, Boost Action for Mech and Airmech modes
Any ideas? The only really different thing I introduced is that mechs capable of air or space combat like LAMs should have a wider fire arc to indicate their added maneuverability and quicker turn responses from having a humanoid shape compared with the more tradition WW2 fighter combat in a vacuum you see with Star Wars. I'll be adding a few more updates in the future to cover other Battletech Unseen in X-wing.
