Hello,
I am finally pulling the trigger on this project I brainstormed last year...
( Let me say now that there will be no icons, marks, symbols, etc...to indicate nazi or ss.... just the camo)

Here is what I have so far -

HQ
5 DKOK Command unit - with Junior Officer, Vox Operator, Plasma Gunner, Melta Gunner and Standard Bearer.

Troops

10 DKOK engineer models (using as veterans)
10 DKOK engineer models (using as veterans)
10 DKOK engineer models (using as veterans)
10 DKOK engineer models (using as veterans)

2 DKOK Lascannon teams
2 DKOK autocannon teams

Heavy
2 DKOK LR Vanquishers
2 Destroyer Tanks
1 Legion Basalisk

All the jackets will be painted a Geman Autumn 1944 Camo, and the vehicles will be painted an "Ambush Camouflage (Hinterhalt-Tarnung): August 1944 pattern – “Ambush Camouflage”, consisted of a base of dark yellow (Dunkelgelb) with olive-green and red-brown (Olivgrün & Rotbraun) patches. On top of this pattern were added small contrasting dots of all three paints.

The bases will be a mud with autumn leaves and light patches of spotty snow.

Later, I plan to add 2-3 Valkyries, and add 2-3 units of steel legion (they are based off fallschirmjeagers after all), and that'll be by stormtroopers for 2-3 elite chooices. I will add 4-5 scout salamanders (use as chimeras) for the troops (the scout sallys look/remind me of halftracks), then add another LEGION BASILISKS (they look way German)...not sure if that'll be 2k or over though...

Thoughts, ideas, and critics welcome!

tweeked the list a bit (here are the minis I have coming, not sure of weapon load outs yet)

HQ
5 command & scout salamander (using as chimera)
Elite
10 grenadiers with a Valkyrie - using as stormtroopers
Troops
10 grenadiers & a scout salamander (using as chimera)- using as vets
10 grenadiers & a scout salamander (using as chimera)- using as vets
10 grenadiers & a scout salamander (using as chimera)- using as vets
10 grenadiers & a scout salamander (using as chimera)- using as vets

3 heavy stubber teams (these look like mg42s the germans had in ww2)- using as heavy bolters
3 dkok autocannon teams
3 dkok lascannon teams

Heavy
2 Russ vanqs
2 destroyer tanks
1 Legion Basalisk

Troops - as said befor, they are to be just like seen in photos. Camo jackets, black helmets & body armor & boots, grey pants, bleach bone (I think) gloves & masks & leggings, the grenadiers have white skulls on masks, etc... Plus, they have orange glowy eyes! Power swords and plasma guns glow blue. HQ will have a white shield on right shoulder pauldron with black C with an I through it (see pics), the Troop grenadiers will just have a white roman numeral 1 for 1 10 man unit, II for the 2nd squad, III for the third, & IV for the fourth. The elite grenadiers have no marks on shoulders. Bases are as seen in photo

A small dark place

Just commenting on the models, but they look sharp. Looking forward to seeing the camo on the tanks.

Jealous that Horus is Warmaster

all over the world

I think they look awesome. If you look at the chimera variant upgrades available on the Internet, there is a bmp variant that would fit really well with your planned list.

Thunderers could be modified slightly to look more like a sturmtiger I guess

if a dolphin will jump out of water for fish, just imagine what it would do for chips?

Not sure how competitive you are trying to be, but a couple of things from the get go, first of all, where are those weapons teams going? you can't have weapons teams on there own, you either need and infantry platoon, or put them in a squad.

Secondly, I see why you picked the options you did for your command squad, given they are what the set comes with! But there's no point running a vox with no recieving voxes, (if that's still the load out you're going for.)

Third, no point putting stormies in a valk because their deepstriking special operation is better for getting them where they need to be, next, make the valk a vendetta.

Lastly, you'll wanna put special weapons on the vets, because that's what vets are for.

and then, disregard everything I've said because there is a new codex coming out in the next couple of months...

But those are some thoughts for now, love the scheme!

Mungo, thanks for the input! I am putting kinda a generic army together, now, and when codex comes out, I will "add" voxes on the backs of a couple minis, slap some special weapons on some minis too (slung on their back), and fine tune it then. But I'm hearing ya!

Also changed my mind on the vehicle camo, going simpler. I have an airbrush kit, so see pic...

PERFECT EXAMPLE OF color & pattern & wear the vehicles will have!

Also, the beauty of this "core" amount of models, is that (like you pointed out), I can just make those 10 "elite" into another troops choice w/ valk transport. As far as the heavy weapons, if I add a team to each troops, I free up 8 to 10 models, which I can make into another (5th or 6th troop choice) depending on what I do with the "elite" I have... Adding an antenna (brass wire) to be a vox on some troops in the units is a snap, and I have plasma, melta, etc... special weapons bits ready to put on the models. Another alt solution is, with the 10 elite, I can split 'em into 2 5 man "platoon hq" units and take troops 1 & 2 and make a platoon + troops 3 & 4 into another one, all with heavy support... But alas, I will see what the new codex brings... That could change all my plans...

Eastern edge

I like the use of the one kit piece for the "nebelwherfer"

Camo is looking good, and the helghast up close, makes it look like a bright red, an orange yellow and a pale yellow for the lense effects.

Looking good!
