Pretty close to finished with this guy, this is a Khorne-marked CSM in my new homebrew Chaos warband called the Cannibal Creed. Looking for critique and especially suggestions for what else I could do with his base, thinking of maybe adding a mauled human corpse but idk.

A little background on my warband: My warband is a deviant sect of Word Bearers called the Cannibal Creed. They are known for their particularly brutal cannibalistic rituals, unusually strict discipline (for Chaos) and zealotry, and a unique view of the Chaos pantheon that holds Khorne and Nurgle as analogues to Yin and Yang forces, considering Slaanesh and Tzeentch to be unbalanced devils and the patrons of cowards. The Cannibal Creed icon is a stylized dog skull biting into a chunk of rotten human flesh. While the warband has no known battle cry or motto, some Adeptus Astartes have reported hearing the growls of rabid, snarling dogs during skirmishes with the traitors, though the sounds don’t seem to come from the Chaos marines themselves. Their colors are blood red, brazen gold, and corpulent green.

those colours have some really nice contrast, good choices

with regards to the base, I always think that with static grass less is more, maybe adding more sandy patches or some pebbles to represent small rocks. any 25mm bases ive seen with bodies on them tend to look crowded and end up detracting from the model itself, which would definately be a shame

Thanks bonz, guess I'll just leave the base as is for now. The color scheme is partly influenced by the Izzet guild in MTG's Ravnica, I really like the whole concept of blue and red as opposing forces, using the opposite elements fire and water/ice together.

I also have this Reaper Bones demon that I'm going to be converting into a bloodthirster, not really sure what to go for with this guy.

I think it needs to be dirtier looking. On the next marine, dirty them up with a wash before you pour blood all over it?

I did do a Carroburg Crimson wash over the entire model after base coating but it didn't get the best coverage, probably should have went over it again. Meh.

And it has a lot of the blood effects but it's base coated with Mephiston Red and my crappy phone camera can't tell the difference between reds, it looks dirtier IRL.

I like the marine's free handed shoulder pad. Nice work.

Thanks, I am kind of nervous about my freehanding and I feel that it might be the weakest part of the model, but good to know somebody thinks it isn't completely dreadful.

To be honest, I find the pauldron's freehand really good too.
Really nice model! Hope you post more of 'em!
