My wife and I decided to try to convert some poorly painted boyz into Stormboyz by just using some things around the house and this is what we have so far. Keep in mind this is a first attemp so please don't be tooo harsh lol .. also it;s still a WIP

for the rocket we used a bottle spout cover from the bar i work at

the flames are hot glue and construction paper )as i'm broke and can't afford any green stuff or modeling clay)

The smoke is actually just hot glue and a cannibalized fabric softener sheet (for reasons stated above)

This is one of my first conversion attempts so it's by no means "pro" status
C&C appreciated

Looks good to me, orks are always good for converting.

Nice use of stuff from around the house!

Going to make more?

Looks great for using only household items. My only criticism would be the metal rod holding him up since it's quite noticeable. I would try maybe putting the rod in his foot and make some rocks on the base with cork to try and conceal it a bit.

Maybe hide the rod in the smoke plume?

Give us a group shot when you are done!

Those are fantasic ideas guys!

i've got all the "Rokkits" glued on now ... most are not suspended as i left my copper wire and tubing at work.
And i've opted out of repainting them due to lack of patience for stripping lol.

all n all i can't complain tho ... i bought 2000 ptz worth of orkz for $80.00... and i think the poor paint job is they key to the cheap price.

instead of stripping i've decided to just paint over the best i can

But all my nobz and whatnot are new puchases i purchased new so they'll look alot better
more pics to come!

ok guys .. i found a new technique for smoke and have applied it to my Stormboy conversions.

The smoke plume starts as a copper wire arched aand manipulated as desired.
Then covered in Gorilla glue layer by layer.
If you're not familiar with the stuff, it's an adhesive that expands 2-3x when applied to a damp surface.
So i start applying at the bottom of the wire first and dip the whole base in a cup of water for about5 seconds.
You then let that dry and start applying up the the wire building off of the dried layer. Always dipping between coats.
The effect is quite interesting and each one is completely unique as it's a random drying pattern more or less.
