This varies from the traditional flier spam, and will focus on disgorging my troops in a concentrated area, air-cav style, to annihilate targets that would otherwise out range them. Take a look. dropping off 40 immortals all on a flank in rapid fire range should be a fun mix-up. if they come under threat of a counter- charge, the fliers can pick them up next turn, and drop them off at their next target. Air Cav Necrons D-Lord 160 (ws/sw/mss) x6 Wraiths 210 x6 Wraiths 210 x4 Night Scythes 400 Annihilation Barges 90 Annihilation Barges 90 Annihilation Barges 90 x10 Immortals 170 Gauss x10 Immortals 170 Gauss x10 Immortals 170 Gauss x10 Immortals 170 Gauss x5 Warriors 65 (reserve walk-on) So thats 12 wraiths, 4 scythes, 3 barges, and a LOT of troops, all with str 5 weaponry, should be mobile and hard hitting. 1995 Any potential hard matchups? Issues? Concerns? Comments? Feedback?

I really really like it. It's not a cheesy as a 8-9 flyers list and still packs a really good punch. I have a slight variation on it running double destroyer lords that I have used with great success against a variety of enemies. Way to not conform and find a fun way to play a competitive list! (Can't wait for necrons 6th edition codex) Automatically Appended Next Post: If I had any criticism I would take out the 5 warriors in reserve and try to find a way to put the other destroyer lord in there. Even if he only has his warsythe he can lookout to his 3++ and I find preferred enemy really helps my wraiths.

Hrm, if I dropped the warriors for 65 pts, and 4 immortals I could probably afford another Dlord for the wraiths.
I've just never been a fan of sinking a ton of points into HQ's i suppose I like having troops doing the hard work, and having the HQ help drive the deciding blow home.

Well you still have 36 immortals( I would put them in 4 squads of 9) to take the fight to the enemy at close range(true to the way necrons are supposed to fight). And in the end It's always up to you, just my 2 cents. I like having the mix of powerful close range shooting with powerful assault, but then that's me. Honestly I don't think it will really change how the list plays in general anyway so I wouldn't worry about it too much, just something you might want to try if you get bored.

Ok, so let's say you're facing multi MC lists (Riptides, 'Nids, etc.)
How would you handle them?
And in the case of a Tau match up, wouldn't interceptor fire be a concern?

Against Nids or Tau, 12 Wraiths might not be enough. I'd opt for 3x5 Wraiths.

In the case of multi MC opponents, do you believe focus fire with 7 tesla destructors would cut it? I can also drop off th troops, with str 5, they have a decent chance of wounding most of them on 5's, and then i can pick them up again next turn?
Interceptor fire...well, i'm either gonna have to try and kill a few missile drones turn 1 to reduce its effectiveness, just overwhelm it if I get enough in at once, or avoid its AOE until I can deal with it effectively?

The problem is that the four Night Scythes might come too late. Recently, I battled a fast moving Daemon army with 3 FMCs, 2x 8 Khorne Hounds, some Screamers and troop units. I bunched up in one corner (15 Wraiths, DLord, 3 ABs) and my 3 Night Scythes arrived in round 3. It got pretty tough.

Thats fair, I would then as a general, need to be ready to compensate, and deploy accordingly, because that WOULD be a rough scenario. The concept of using the embarked troops as part of that beta strike should still be valid however?

This was one of the toughest matchup I had so far with my Necrons. I'd keep the units in the NS not deploying them since the Daemons will need some time to take down the Wraiths if so. In the meantime your air cav could take on the daemonic troop units.

An air cav Necron army is really flexible. While the enemy goes for your Wraiths, the troops go for his throat. Against fast moving Daemons this is a viable tactics.

Very fair. With my tax return, i guess I need to grab a few fliers!
Given the troop light meta, that tactic could be..very effective.

The big question I have is how are you going to manage pivoting etc.. to maximize being able to pick up troops and still be able to fire at anything with in the Scythes arc? Seems like if you embark before it moves you don't get to fire the warriors, etc.. etc..
If you move at a angle maybe? Either way that pivot as you will be moving forward into the board , is going to be kind of tricky with the pivoting unless you are specifically talking about cross pivoting and flying etc..
You set it up with four going straight 36 two going crosswise and then alternate? Difficult to explain with out a illustration.
Make two lines on either side of the "board" with them, then a X with the others but only go 18 inches into the .. screw it I'll try and draw a picture.

Do they allow the Stronghold assault book? If so get a 55pt av14 building w a 20 point com relay. All your flyers will come in and you can even hide your wraiths in there if you need to. You can also put a void shield on it for 25pts. That means you could put an Anni barge on top and it would have a void shield.

The only time telsa is better is at the 12-24in range or snap fire. In every other situation gauss comes out on top or so close it doesn't matter. You can completely negate the range weakness by putting them in night scythes and dropping them within 12in range which I can only assume is the tactic employed by this list. Plus gauss can at least glance up to AV14 but telsa can at best glance AV11. Clearly gauss is superior, the OP shows he knows this by including only one troop with telsa but I would still advise switching to full gauss.
Here's the math to prove it;
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiEZVcuAv9CDdEtld1dwUTVRWFVrMjJtMHZpdUpTNUE#gid=0 Automatically Appended Next Post: I'd love telsa to be viable just the same as I'd love psylincers to be viable but sadly it's not so.

Well, yes, if you actually WANT your troops getting up close and personal, Gauss Immortals would be better.
But perhaps it might be wise to consider kiting enemy units, keeping your guys well out of assault range, while still delivering efficient fire.
TL;DR- Gauss if playing aggressive, Tesla if playing safe.

Skoffs that wouldn't be playing safe that would be playing stupid. With 40 imortals being dropped on a target to hang back and get substantially fewer kills would just get them dead, if they use gauss and drop within the 12in range they should annihilate most targets including landraders and monoliths.

Oh, yeah, in this case with 40 of the f*ckers, definitely worth it going Gauss.
Sorry, I was just thinking in general terms, rather than this list in particular. Let me rephrase: "Tesla if foot slogging, Gauss if you've got a ride"

Fair enough, I wouldn't know I only ever use immortals in NC's. As for MC's the same tactics will work; dump the immortals around the target and saturate it with gauss. 80 shots, 53 hits, t6 6+ save means 17 wounds and 14.81 unsaved wounds.

I think this is a really awesome list but think it would benefit more if you had.
Drop one Annihilation Barge and the Warriors and you get
9 Immortals , Night Scythe
9 Immortals, Night Scythe
9 Immortals , Night Scythe
9 Immortals Night Scythe
9 Immortals Night Scythe
= 1265
I mean you are trying to maximize how many Tesla Shots correct?
With 5 Night Scythes, and 2 Barges well that's the same number but you get an added flyer and more Gauss
28 Twin Linked Str 7 No AP shots that if strike have a 1 in six chance of doing 2 additional hits.
I'm sure someone could tell you the odds on that. I unfortunately could not.
Then you have the option of taking 18 Teslas, and 27 Gauss Blasters or some combination there in. Personally I like Teslas w/ a Chrono w/ Lighting Shield.
Of course this puts you a further 35 points over.
Your list is still crazy imposing even not modifying at all. Just personal taste. I'd rather have more troops and fliers.

I'm somewhat opposed to the additional flyer honestly. This isn't supposed to be airspam.
I do agree that switching to all gauss is the way to go however, and I have updated the list accordingly.
Ideally. Anything I am dropping my immortals near that wants to be in assault, will be dead between overwatch and 40 immortals shooting at it rapid fire.
Additionally, Having an extra barge gives me better control over where that firepower goes, fliers are somewhat unreliable at that. I feel with 45 troops, I will outnumber most people's 2-1...unless i'm facing green tide. and my troops will be contributing rather than hiding.
Thanks for the feedback guys, I do appreciate it.
