Hello again Dakka, I need your help with some colors here. My current Tyranid palette consists of:

Averland Sunset
Wazzdakka Red
Screaming Skull
Dryad Bark

Now, I bought myself a Tempestus Firebase to trade to a friend for his nearly unbuilt Forgeworld Harridan that he did not want, and the wings look like a problem to figure out what color to paint the membrane of the wings. So, what GW paint would you recommend for the wings, that you think would suit the color palette, and also any tips on how to paint them properly.

The Wings: Pins or magnets, and your reason why.
Greenstuff: So, my friend used greenstuff to keep certain things on it together, such as the mouth, and it does have some unseemly blobs of greenstuff sticking out. Is there any way to easily remove it/ dissolve it away from the resin for a second attempt to get the model in peak position? If not, what would you suggest I do?

I washed the membranes of my Hive Fleet Kraken models with Reikland Fleshwash. The basic skin color is effectively Screaming Skull washed with Burnt Umber. Was pretty happy with the result.

Regarding the wings, I think I'd recommend pinning. Given the size and weight of the wings, I think that magnetizing them on such that they are really stable, is going to be tough.

I use a leviathan type scheme, except I use pink on the wing membrane. I have been painting veins on the wings and have been loving the results. The process is something like this. Base black (for luster), pink, pink, pink, pink, crimson wash, blue glaze veins, very thin pink washed over the center areas of the wings, blue glaze even thinner lines inside the now fainter ones, then a very thin pink washing again. It looks amazing. The thicker and thinner blue lines with the pink wash between them create a fading effect. The final washing in pink looks like a thin layer of skin over the veins.

I picked up 2 pots of Kislev Flesh while I was in town today. It looks like it might be just what I am after. I'll try and post some WIP pics of it.

My Tyranids are blue carapace, red talons and light brown flesh. I didn't want to add another colour to the palette, so I just made the wings dark blue on Gargoyles and when I buy a Harpy I'll probably go either dark brown (which is the colour of the exposed flesh areas) or dark blue again, haven't decided.

So, working on the painting of the Harridan's wings, but running into problems. Going back and doing some rebuilding on the hard carapace on the wings, and working with liquid green stuff, just how durable is it to standing up to light sanding? Trying it in some areas, and it seems to be falling right off with no bond to the resin.
