At long last, after all my blather I've decided to start a dakka P&M blog. Our first project is a squad of chaos themed Rogue Trader beakies. Alpha Legion won the poll, so they will be the first to emerge from our big bundle of bitz.

I notice my posts seem to bring threads to a screeching halt. Considering the content of most threads on dakka, you're welcome.

UPDATE 4/13

Our first squads are beginning to emerge from the beakie bucket, with a few added chaosy bits for good measure. Next Steps are cleaning away mold and sprue lines and priming black.
You'll get to see the gory details as soon as I get to Walmart for the black primer. (Leave it to me to start a P&M blog then promptly run out.)

Sorry for the delay in the chaos beakie project, but I have cool news. My venue, New England comics in New Bedford is revitalizing our 40K league. First step is building up our terrain collection, and I'm in charge of that!
A lot of fun and a great chance to hone my skills.

The game you see here takes place between me and my friends' loyalist marines and tyranid swarm. The lava terrain is deceptively simple to make but very striking in practice.
Spoiler:

The technique was really simple;
* Cut some matched foamboard bases
* Cut and gouge some insulation foamcore, glue to bases
* Spray black, making sure to get the edges and pits of the foamcore really wet (The spraypaint melts it, creating a great lavastone effect.
* Spray the bases with grey stone texture paint to get that ashy look
* Touch up the black paint inside the lava pits so it looks scorched
* Drybrush red, then orange, then yellow over the dried black (try to get the lighter colors more towards the bottom to create a OSL effect)
* Create lava flow from orange and yellow fabric paint, wash red when dry for deeper tone.

Here's a WIP pic;

4/14/15 Vakna vakna, moribund thread.
Hello again everyone, finally beginning to get my ducks in a row after a very bad stretch in my life. Since I have some craft time now thought I'd revive My P&M blog stuff.
First up, my version of Bellakor; an ascended unnamed chaos undivided cultist. Large hasslefree mini with batwings sourced from heroclix. Base is made from wood chips, leftover candles from dwarf bits, and lots of random trophy heads. (Marines Malevolent, Ultrashmucks and Khornate Knights are her favorites.)
Spoiler:

Feedback welcome, no matter how harsh!
