Ahoy there!
I figured I should start logging my progress as feedback is always lovely (good ideas and whatnot!), and I have so far been inspired by Darth Bob to create a blog. Granted mine isn't as spectacular as his is in terms of presentation, but I hope that I still will somehow capture your interest with my clever use of the English language and witty banter. Actually that last bit probably isn't true, but I digress.
First a bit of background:
I've always wanted to make a very agile glass cannon type army that I would enjoy painting. After toiling long and hard I had come to the conclusion that Dark Eldar were the way to go. I think their rules are great and if used correctly they can be a brutal force to be reckoned with, though on the other side of things I feel like one wrong move could spell disaster. I like those odds
. My friends play Space Wolves and Orks and some other stuff I don't recall, so having the massive amount of shots fired from the Venoms in the list I created should be good against both. Yay, poison!
The List!:
I wanted this army to be fast and agile and have all sorts of things zooming about and confuse the enemy regarding what threat is the highest, all the while melting their face with poisoned splinter cannon shots. I also wanted to have a bit of a melee capability to surprise/tie up/harass certain units. It's only 750 points and in full "glass cannon" style, I have 2 small units of troops. I've got a couple of strategies to ensure they survive so once I play I'll report back and we shall see if they worked!
1 Archon with an agoniser and shadowfield
4 Trueborn
All in a Venom with an extra splinter cannon
2x 5 Warriors, each squad resides happily (do Dark Eldar feel that emotion? I'm sure they do when it involves the following
a Venom with an extra splinter cannon!
2 Beastmasters with 5 Warp Beasts (because Khymerae is difficult to spell) and 2 Razorwing flocks. For the beastmasters I'll be using slightly modified Cold One cavalry since they count as beasts and splinter pods could easily be... lizard spit
3 Reavers with a heat lance. I feel like this will be another one of those annoying gnat in the ear sort of units... that also melts tanks on occasion.
And finally, a Ravager. Because they are great.
So that's what we're looking at. Having finished the troops already, I feel like I've got the hard part out of the way. Took me somewhere in the timeframe of 50 to 55 hours to complete total.
Group shots!
Individual Warriors!
Action shots! Pew pew pew!
Remember you can scroll in for a better look! These are pretty large pictures. Also sorry for some of the out of focus. Been a while since I have used a camera, not to mention a new lightbox (which I'm still figuring out based on the best lighting situation which sounds weird when talking about a box made of light... or something).
I'll have a picture of my beast squad soon! If you have any questions about anything please feel free to send them my way!
Hope you enjoyed so far
