Played my first MEGA storm of magic game today, and here's what we did.

We counted up all the fulcrums at the start of the turn, so that if someone started their magic phase early they didn't have to worry about a count.

Someone rolled for the side, and everyone got to use that many dice. The dispel dice were likewise universal for the other side.

However, players could dispel with each other and use scrolls for each other. I didn't really think this was that great of a way of doing things, as some players who rolled badly and didn't cast their spells then gave their opponent extra dispel dice to use to make it harder for the others, and when one player that was underpointed got wiped out, his dwarf opponent just used all of his dice to help his teammates.

Likewise, cataclysm spells and such that affected the board affected everyone. Someone cast the Dance of Despair power from lore of Death and it was fairly crippling for the enemy team, though luckily their dwarf players were able to dispel it with a banner.

Thing is, I'm not sure how else to do it. If we limit things too much, we end up with tables of individual fantasy games that just share their end results (number of fulcrums held). I'm not sure that's the best solution.

So how do you guys do it?

Not sure.

I did a huge SoM game with the triumph and treachery rules once.

Worked out okay, and made sense. Provides clear rules as to who gets dispel dice, who can cast spells on who, etc.

Get's a bit wonky though.
