Dipping With Wood Stain

Hi all,

A few years ago I finished a Nurgle Chaos Space Marine army (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/225183.page) and am now planning on adding to it after I complete a couple of more projects. I had read about a neat little product called Tentacle Maker from Green Stuff Industries and so I checked out their website only to discover that sales of Tentacle Maker were on hold until completion of version 2.0 (this was about mid-March). So I checked in every couple of weeks to see if the new product was ready to go. A couple of weeks ago it was announced that pre-orders were available and shipping would begin on May 5. I placed my order and was pleased to receive notification that it was shipped on May 5 and I received it a couple of days later.

The tool box comes with three different sizes; SAW-020, VEX-040, and SAW-050. Each size comes with a top and bottom plate. The number refers to width and the letters to shape of tentacle made (see photo below).

The 40 and 50 are difficult to tell apart and the clear lettering is hard to read so I added some color

It is very easy to use. You start with a sausage of green stuff and use the bottom plate as a roller. Because it is made with clear resin you can see the shape of the roll without having to frequently remove the plate. Next take the sausage and place perpendicular to the ridges and slide the top plate back and forth using the provided guide to keep the plates aligned.

50 on the left, 40 in the middle, 20 on the right.

These were the first tentacles I made and was very happy with the results. I still need much, much more practice to make tentacles that are smaller diameter on one end, but for a first effort I was pleased.

A little something about customer service. Many of a businesses' most loyal clients/customers are those whom had something go wrong and the business responded in such a way that the client was so impressed with the response that a strong relationship was built. Many businesses provide good service when things go well, but how they respond when things go poorly has a greater influence on the customer/client relationship (positively or negatively).

I mention this because when I received my Tentacle Maker two size 40 top plates arrived and a 50 was missing. I sent Rich an e-mail with a photo of the two top plates and noted what was missing. Later that same day I received notification that a replacement top plate was being sent with a note saying, "Sorry for the mix-up! Here is your replacement SAW-050 top plate". I admit I wasn't expecting a big fight or anything but it was certainly impressive to have such a quick and satisfying response.

Overall, between the quality of the product and exemplary customer service I highly recommend the Tentacle Maker v2.0 and Green Stuff Industries.

Here is their website: http://www.greenstuffindustries.com/
There are some nice articles regarding using green stuff and such too.
