As I got my shiny new Rebel transport today, I figured I'd try to organise a big Epic Game of X-Wing at my local gaming club, using just my minis collection...
These are the two forces I've put together.
I've tried to split each force into different relatively self-contained 'Flights' that could potentially be used by any different players that want to join in.
Imperial Fleet
Flight 1
Darth Vader — TIE Advanced
- Squad Leader
- Cluster Missiles
Major Rhymer — TIE Bomber
- Determination
- Advanced Proton Torpedoes
- Cluster Missiles
Captain Jonus — TIE Bomber
- Determination
- Proton Torpedoes
Boba Fett — Firespray-31
- Heavy Laser Cannon
- Mercenary Copilot
- Anti-Pursuit Lasers
Flight 2
"Howlrunner" — TIE Fighter
- Swarm Tactics
4 x Obsidian Squadron Pilot — TIE Fighter
Flight 3
Tetran Cowall — TIE Interceptor
Turr Phennir — TIE Interceptor
Soontir Fel — TIE Interceptor
- Push the Limit
Boba Fett is a bit of a wild card, he could pretty much go into any of the other flights, or someone could just fly him alone by themselves if they wanted to, if they want to take part but are not too used to the game. Alternatively, some people may be bringing their own TIE Fighters and will use them instead of him.
As for models, my collection also includes a Lambda shuttle.
Rebel Fleet
Truth be told, I'm not too sure about this fleet a single bit. - The 2 unused mini's I have are an A-Wing and a B-Wing. I'm also definitely open for more sensible ways to field my shiny new Transport. - Obviously, as it's my new toy, I'll almost certainly be commanding it and Flight 1.
Flight 1
GR-75 Medium Transport — GR-75 Medium Transport
- Frequency Jammer
- Slicer Tools
- Combat Retrofit
- Dutyfree
"Hobbie" Klivian — X-Wing
- Proton Torpedoes
- R5-K6
Flight 2
Wedge Antilles — X-Wing
- Swarm Tactics
- R5-P9
- Shield Upgrade
Luke Skywalker — X-Wing
- R2-D2p
- Shield Upgrade
Wes Janson — X-Wing
- R2-F2
Flight 3
Kyle Katarn — HWK-290
- Blaster Turret
- Recon Specialist
- Moldy Crow
- Shield Upgrade
Chewbacca — YT-1300
Draw Their Fire
- Gunner
- Millennium Falcon
Gray Squadron Pilot — Y-Wing
- Ion Cannon Turret
- R2 Astromech
I'm definitely open for suggestions and tips for these guys. My main focus of the game is to have a bit of a spectacle and a good time for both sides.

I've had another go at making my Epic Rebel fleet. - It's split into 3 flights, so it could be used by different players in the game.
So, I'd have something like:
Red Flight
GR-75 Medium Transport
Slicer Tools
Frequency Jammer
Combat Retrofit
Dutyfree
"Hobbie" Klivian
Proton Torpedoes
R5-K6
Prototype Pilot
Assault Missiles
Rogue Flight
Wedge Antilles
Swarm Tactics
R5-P9
Shield Upgrade
Wes Janson
R2-F2
Garven Dreis
R2-D2
Gold Flight
Chewbacca
Draw Their Fire
Gray Squadron Pilot
Ion Cannon Turret
R2 Astromech
Blue Squadron Pilot
Advanced Sensors
Total: 300
View in Yet Another Squad Builder
This is all ok, I think. - The A-Wing means that I'll have 3 ships to fly, so I'm not completely out of the game when my Rebel Transport dies horribly in the first pass.
R5-P9 on Wedge should work well with Garven's focus passing.
The only downside is, I don't think the B-Wing works well with Chewie and the Y-Wing. - However, the Advanced Sensors should help it keep up.
Any thoughts?

I tried doing the GR-75 Dutyfree jamming ship too in the campaign. I learned that if you really want it to work you should give out some Flechette Torpedoes to the rest of your squadron and lend R3-A2 out to a character like Porkins or Klivian. Reason being if you want to use slicer tools you'll want to double up stress on as many ships as you can so that even when they de-stress the next activation they'll still have a stress to suffer through for action denial and Slicer Tools. At the end of the day you'll cap out at around four enemy ships double stressed but consider yourself doing well if you'r opening pass double stress's three and sets up the transport to slice them next turn. Which is the problem of the transport, it need actions to jam and then to slice, but your opponent can de-stress between there.
Other wise I might try to squeeze more ships in in place of some of the name characters and droids. For instance R2-D2 rocks but you'll be up against 300pts of firepower, he may be a waste of points more often than not.
I could easily see a epic squadron that uses the Dutyfree to jam up the enemy then either a CR90 or another GR75 to slice them up the same turn, and then slice the stragglers again the next turn while the transport recharges it's shields.

It's pretty easy for me to drop the proton torpedoes on Hobbie then give Flechette Torpedoes to Hobbie and someone else. - The B-wing maybe?

Anyone really, maybe move the Assault missiles over to Chewbacca too. The prototype pilot will be eating a lot of blaster bolts to the face before he can get his one trick off. Let me go make a 'Dutyfree' Epic list and see what I come up with.

Using the ships you had available I came up with this. I decided since I didn't have many models to choose from I would just put as many threats in the fight as I could while trying to set the transport up for serious intervention. 300 on the nose. Transport is backline cavalry rammer with support abilities, Han solo is a distracting flanker in this case that can dole out serious damage if ignored, the X's and the B are your offensive wedge you drive up the other side and the A-wing is kind of a Spearhead unit though I really don't know where they should go, no pun intended btw.

That does seem pretty neat. I'm definitely going to need to try Hobbie with R3-A2. - It seems like a pretty neat combo.
Now that the Tantive IV has arrived, I've made this list up.
===================
Rebel Fleet Tertius
===================
300 points
Pilots
------
CR90 Corvette (Aft)
CR90 Corvette, Single Turbolasers, Slicer Tools
CR90 Corvette (Fore)
CR90 Corvette, Quad Laser Cannons, Engineering Team, Tibanna Gas Supplies
GR-75 Medium Transport
GR-75 Medium Transport, Dutyfree, Frequency Jammer, Comms Booster, Retrofit
Wedge Antilles
X-Wing, R2-D2 , Opportunist, Shield Upgrade
Wes Janson
X-Wing, R2-F2 , Veteran Instincts
Dagger Squadron Pilot
B-Wing, Advanced Sensors, Heavy Laser Cannon
Gold Squadron Pilot
Y-Wing , Ion Cannon Turret
====================
The idea is that the Y Wing and B-Wing defend the back end of the huge ships. Wedge and Wes work together to do any dogfighting, but most of the damage really comes from the Transport and Corvette doing a combo of Jamming and Slicing, on the same turn.

Played my third game with the Corvette, this time though I got to fly it! Game was Team Epic 2v2, 200pts per player. I went straight fluff and artilley: <>CR90 (Fore) -->'Tantive IV' -->Leia Organa -->Weapons Engineer -->Gunnery Team -->Sensor Team -->Single Turbolasers -->Quad Lasers <>CR90 (Aft) -->WED-15 Repair Droid -->Engineering Team -->Single Turbolasers <>Han Solo -->'Millennium Falcon' -->Luke Skywalker -->Chewbacca -->Assault Missiles I wasn't afraid to go light on ships because I knew my teammate was bringing a fair size squad of four X's with Proton Torps and three A's with Assault missiles(Know yourself), we had a plan as to how we were going to setup our asteroids (Know the terrain), and we were quite familiar with our opponents playstyle and abilities(Know your enemy). Sure we had some great dice rolls too, but at the end of the game three X-wings had survived and the Tantive IV only took two damage to it's aft section and shields were recharging. Through good strategy more than any thing we won rather handily against 12 Fighters, 2 Advanced Fighters, and 8 Interceptors. Morals: Single Turbolasers will jack you right the heck up, especially double Target locking at range five. You must engage the Tantive quickly from all sides to force it to either regen shields or fire and risk destruction. And Han Solo with Assault Missiles is a jerky-jerk-jerk. As is Luke Skywalkers crewman card. Also Sun Tzu is awesome at X-wing LOL

Hmm, I wasn't overly impressed with my turbolasers when I used them. - The sheer number of dodge dice TIE Fighters get just discouraged me. Although, a weapons engineer does seem like a good call. I've not been looking at normal crew cards much as I've been assuming most of their abilities aren't allowed (eg Luke, Navigator and Gunner). - It's good to see what Weapons Engineer is allowed. Mercenary copilot may also be another good shout, actually.
However, last night I wasn't target locking with my corvette, instead my fore section was using Slicer tools all the time (I swapped that and the gas over), in tandem with my Dutyfree transports Jamming.
That worked really great, actually. It was awesome to just pick on some badly damaged TIE fighters and say, "I'm spending 1 energy to kill that now."
The fleet I made up does work quite well, I think. Since I've got Wedge and Wes and pilot skills 9 and 10, they were able to deploy last to hunt out any bombers.
The only guy that really didn't contribute much was my Y-Wing. - He'd probably be better off being replaced with something else.
