For those who are not yet aware, we've been working on a boardgame project currently titled Darklight: Memento Mori which features 3D printed miniatures and exciting dungeon crawling action in a dark, gothic world full of demons heavily inspired by retro boardgames RPG.
We have got some exciting updates so I thought to share them all with you.
The Black Knight certainly looks a lot more heroic with the alternative head.
Resin pieces look to have turned out nicely.
Looking forward to hopefully seeing a big box full of plastic when the time comes!
While the Skron may be demons, mine will inevitably get painted up like lizards I'm afraid.
I think the more work you can get done prior to actually launching your campaign, the better. Having stuff actually cast and molded is a lot better than just showing off renders!
Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Without giving any story spoilers away, you may actually paint your Skorns of any colour you wish! Body paint is also an option if you's like to give it cool patterns and such.

Any beta of the rules floating about? Am I far off the mark in thinking Heroquest in a Ravenloft setting?
The crawlers and the Nightmares strengths are in numbers and not in size (There is 12 of each!).
The current combat system has been completed and thoroughly tested, however to broaden the scope of strategies and game mechanics, we are studying other possibilities and perhaps change direction once we are really happy with a new system.
Indeed looks amazing!
But if there would be the option to build only one of this two armoured warrior versions, it would be a pity.
They both look great!!!

Within the basic game there will be 4 Heroes:
The Black Knight, the Exorcist, the Outcast and the Witch, each will have a few customisation options like the Black Knight for example has the option of 2 handed sword or 1 sword, 1 shield and between the choice of 2 helms.

Ok I see. Therefore there would be the option of purchasing a second version of each character, outside/apart of the basic box
I liked the Black Knight before when he looked like Baron Karza, but I actually really like that heroic alternate version. I think I may be interested in backing this, or at least throwing some money in with Tamburlaine.
Will you be offering figures separate from the game at all?

The alternative version will be provided within the main sprue of the game, so essentially you get 1 body, 2 arms and 2 heads for example for a Hero.
The plan is to create additional characters later on based on the game popularity and priorities.

My hope is to be able to provide character packs (With rules, cards and all) alter on, even those published within the main game in case more than one player wants to chose the same Hero type. Either that or at least provide resin copies of a few selected characters.

Very cool stuff. One complaint, though- while goggles look cool, they're pretty limiting to your vision and often basically destroy your peripheral vision, so I'm not seeing that as a great direction on an archer...

Ah, don't worry, those are not goggles, they are actually horn stumps (Her horns have been sawn off), she is the Outcast. Half demon, half human, her alternative head will most likely have full length horns. The bow she is holding is made by her horns.
Darklight is based during a late "medieval" time (Early renaissance), so technology is still very limited.

Love the tidbit about her horns being sawn off to make her bow.
For what it's worth, when it's time to start your campaign, PLEASE consider running it in American dollars instead of British pounds. Not to be self- serving or anything, but the REALLY successful stuff on Kickstarter tends to be run in dollars. Everything you've shown looks to be quite promising, and even if everyone in the US has to pay shipping (which we're slowly getting used to), for whatever reason, the dollars really tend to bring in the backers.
I know we've seen stuff like Mantic's games, Machina Arcana, heck, even today we saw Drakerys launch, all in dollars, all bringing in quite a bit of cash. Maybe try reaching out to some of those smaller companies who had success with KS that aren't located in the US?
Regardless, keep up the good work!

Much as I absolutely HATE it being in US dollars Highlord has a point, for some reason some yanks find it really confusing. Was this actually confirmed it is going to KS or are we presuming it is?

If KS gives us no legal issues with using dollars even through we are based in UK, then we will do so.
We've been looking around a lot to others successful/failed KS, trying to see the pattern which makes or breaks them.

Yes, the plan is to have it on KS before the end of the year, but not too late.
Last I heard, they were hoping for the end of the year. I wouldn't mind if it slipped into next, but with Conan looming on the horizon come January, that may not be the best time either.
Then again, there's probably no "best" time when it does finally come time to launch.

Actually these guys original concept have different colour schemes than the one shown in those photos.
I gave the artist the freedom to do as he wished to prove the point that these guys can truly come in every colour and still look pretty neat
I cannot wait to be blown away by the creativity which some of you will bring to them.
Regarding the "lizards" comment, keep in mind Darklight is a game full of secrets and speculation in terms of lore, so what these demons truly are, nobody knows but you might read some clues on the treasure cards you'll find along your journeys!
Lastly, we are currently preparing a KS campaign, but it is a very hard process which takes lots of time and things prepared in advance.

Just wanted to see the 'lost' image.
Must admit these are all looking very nice. Consider me tempted.
Check out my gallery here Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!
Just another quick update, this time I felt like I Wanted to give it a shot.
The tones should be darker but I felt like painting it more as a stylized miniatures than focus too much on realism. At one point I need to try one with black chitin and red underbelly.
