Page 136 of the BRB only gives an example of entering ongoing reserves through the use of a flyer leaving the battlefield. The only other mention I've found regarding ongoing reserves was on the deep strike mishap table on page 162.
Is there any other way to purposefully enter ongoing reserves? Would leading a unit off of the board edge work, or would that just kill them?

Unless your a flyer or FMC you can't willfully leave the board IIRC.

Flyers going off the board go into ongoing. A Mawloc who burrows. I sure there are many other special units that can do it.
Oh yeah swooping hawks and a couple other Nids.
Yeah anything w/o a special rule can't leave the board.

Don't deep striking units go into ongoing reserves if they mishap in a certain way?
|
If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated. |

3rd post (Mythra), second sentence. He didn't mention the Skyleap ability itself, but did mention Swooping Hawks.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
