Thank you kind folk of the painting n modeling corner :-)

That's it, the heat blooms/burns on metal. left after use, I'm not up to green stuffing the flame for a good while!

For a basic scorched or soot effect, I tend to drybrush several layers of paint in this order: warplock bronze (kind of optional), skrag brown, mournfang brown, and abbadon black. Then I'll try and tie it all in with a light wash of purple or black ink. Another cool thing I like to do is take a pencil and use the edge of it on the edges of the metal bits that are black. Kind of gives it a highlight or further touch of realism. Like this: Or like this: I might have overdone it with this guy. The gun barrel is quite charred

Thankyou , yes maybe plasma fgunner not been paying attention to the machine spirit!
That's the effect I wanted, as no flamer after use is going to be shiny and clean, its going to be burnt, spotty from the fuel burn with impurities in the Petro chrmical used.

My flamer nozzles are all silver or gold, so I don't know how this transfers, but I wash mine with Nuln Oil, then using thinned paint do the end 2/3 brown, thin enough that the gold is kinda visible, then 1/3 orange, then sometimes a bit of red, and then the bottom and cylinder end blue/grey, before washing the entire thing with Agrax Earthshade. I burnt a couple old spoons to figure the effect.
It looks pretty good I think, if my camera's working this afternoon I'll try post pictures, if you'd like?

Yeah if it's a not too much trouble, Im going to start on yours as sounds best for what colours I have avilible.
Though not going to have much modeling time of next few days so be a while till I get to post pics of the completed results.
got abit of time, not perfect but learned for next time to get the blend better and use less red, more orange and thin it bit more. , so to unveil the guardsmen
still needs touching up and such little things but do that in a few days time

I'm afraid I must apologise for the delay, but a situation in real life has had my full attention the last few days, and took priority over this. Sorry.
I own a rather dodgy camera and can't take a photo to save my life, so apologies for the worst cameraman ship ever.
You get the gist, however.

I do, no worries, life must take priority over internet, not everyone has a high end camera lying around,
