Hi all,

i want to get back into WH40K, i picked up the new rulebooks today.
I'm still doubting what i want to play, but my gutfeeling says Orks. I was wondering if the the new Ork Mekmob is a good starting point to build an army from?

Looks cool. 'Starting point' is the key phrase. You have a small unit in a DT, some heavily armored HQs, and a CC monster of a walker.

I suggest playing a few 500pt games with that group to see how you like it first. This is a very fractured list that needs a bit more focus.
You then have the option of going with more trukk boyz squads (which seems like a good idea in this new codex), Battlewagons for the Mega-armor, more Dreads & Kans, etc.

My favorite part about Orks is the ease at which I can scratch-build vehicles and artillery pieces for them. They are not a highly competitive, WAAC army and probably won't be for a long time. But if you like going all-in on assaults, shouting challenges at the top of your lungs and laughing your ass off when your own army turns on itself, Orks are for you.

My 2 cents:

The best starting point is where your other friends are at. Or other players are willing to play at.

They are many places to start from for Orks. To play battle forge you will need:
1 HQ
2 Troop

Preferably 1 Warboss and enough ork Boyz to field 2 units of 30.

From there spread to the rest of the codex. I'd suggest painboys as well

Thanks man. I'm not a competitive player at all. I just want to play for fun and i like narrative stuff also. Thanks for your input man. I'll ask around in my local club for some more input on the matter.
