Not a pro painter by any means lol, but I love black and green! Can you tell...?

Pretty cool. As minimalist schemes go, black plus pretty much any spot color always seems to strike a chord. I think the glossy finish was a nice call.

I'm not entirely sold on the bases, though. Nothing wrong with the execution, mind you, and I see what you were doing with the crystals. They're a cool feature, on their own, but with the green accents on the models being so sparse, the big, bright shapes on the bases tend to pull the attention - my eye is being actively drawn away from the models.

I might consider relegating their use (they are cool, after all, and well worth using for something) to terrain, display bases, objective markers, etc. I could definitely see making some fluffy tie between the army and the crystals that would justify such a use, without competing with the army, visually. Might just be my personal bias, of course - I tend to prefer relatively subdued basing.

Okay cool thanks for the advice. I see what you mean about the green crystals. The good news is that I actually have 5 other wraith guard models that don't have ANY crystals on them whatsoever...so that should lower the ratio a bit so not every base has 2-3 on them.

Yeah it definitely is a minimalistic scheme, and made the black to be glossy so it stands out more on its own. That being said, it is a tad mundane and I have an ace up my sleeve to add a nice kick. Will post an update tomorrow.
