I'm looking to maybe get into Warmachine/Hordes. I've narrowed down which army I'd want to start to either Everblight or Cryx. This is based purely on what their models look like. I don't know any of the rules regarding them. Could someone please give me a little info about them to help me pick?

Cryx are fast, hit hard, then fall over and die. They have a lot of debuffs and Incorporal units (can't hit them unless you have magic weapons, or they hit you first). Not jack heavy.

Legion LOVE beasts and ignore a bunch of LoS rules due to a lot of access to the True Sight rules. They also hit fast, hard and fall over though. Their don't have the debuffibg cryx have, but they are harder to land a hit on. If you do hit them, they die however.

Cryx brings a load of small extremely cheap(point wise not money wise) infantry that will die to a stiff breeze. However they hit hard enough so that even if only 3 of 10 models make it across the table and are able to attack the enemy they'll still do massive amounts of damage. They have more top tier Warcasters in faction than any other army. The Warcasters tend to focus on debuffing the enemy and spell casting. Over all the army is very melee focused. Yes you can run ranged, but 90% of your lists tend to be melee.

They're (arguably)the easiest army to learn and you'll likely start winning with Cryx faster than with any other army. They're widely considered the 'Newb Stomping' faction, they're also one of the two most hated armies in the game; as such there is a very vocal group of players who constantly complain about Cryx being broken/OP. They'll point out that Cryx players are typically over represented at tournaments. This is true, There tends to be more Cryx players in the top 16 slots of major tournaments than any other faction, though they rarely win the tournament outright, as the other top players know how to beat Cryx and will have brought a dedicated 'Anti-Cryx' list.

They're a great faction, and perfect if you want to play a horde of melee monsters. You'll just need to accept that more people will complain about you playing Cryx and if you chose to play a different army.

Legion brings relatively few troops instead focusing on 3-6 heavy Warbeasts, that through various innate abilities ignore basic rules of the game like Line of Sight, Rough Terrain, and status effects line Fire and Blind. These models, like Cryx, are super fast, hit like Mac Trucks, but are not very survivable. They have amazing melee potential along with a great ranged game. They have a mix of casters that include one of the best assassins in the game eLylyth, and eVayle who brings a ridiculous amount of mobility to her warbeasts. In addition to amazing casters and warbeasts, Legion also brings some great units to the table, for example if you bring a large number of ranged units with eLylyth you have the potential to shoot your opponents entire army off the table on turn 2. Then to top it all off they have some of the best beast support solos in the game, so you'll never have to worry about Fury management.

Legion also has one of the most beautiful models in the entire game IMHO. The upcoming model Absylonia, Daughter of Everblight, is so good that I"m planning on buying the model to paint her up just as a display piece.

Finally, Legion is one of the cheapest armies to play at the tournament level. The most popular pairing for Legion at tournaments is eVayle and Saeryn, both of these lists will include 4-6 Warbeasts and 2-5 solos that will over lap with each other. If you buy used you can easily get two tournament ready lists for roughly $200.

I hear as many or more cries of Legion being OP than Cryx.

Otherwise, my opinion is they are very similar except for the obvious. One is hordes and one is warmachine.
