Subject: Done with warhammer/GW, how to sell my stuff??

I have been playing since about 5th edition in warhammer 40k and since the beginning I never felt things were going my way, I buy nids nobody wants to fight them. I buy orks I dont win much. I play necrons nobody wants to play. Over the last couple months I have been downsizing, trading and trying to get rid of everything.
Well 7th/this edition I am tired of it, just want to get out and sell all my stuff, maybe put it all back into board games warmahordes or L5R.
Where and how should I sell my stuff, eBay one big lot, or sell them a different way? Any idea would help.

Sell them here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/forums/show/11.page or at barter town. Thats the best way I have found, good luck!

Captain Killhammer McFighterson stared down at the surface of Earth from his high vantage point on the bridge of Starship Facemelter. Something ominous was looming on the surface. He could see a great shadow looming just underneath the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, slowly spreading northward. "That can't be good..." he muttered to himself while rubbing the super manly stubble on his chin with one hand. "But... on the other hand..." he looked at his shiny new bionic murder-arm. "This could be the perfect chance for that promotion." A perfect roundhouse kick slammed the ship's throttle into full gear. Soon orange jets of superheated plasma were visible from the space-windshield as Facemelter reentered the atmosphere at breakneck speed. |

Was there any particular reason? Aside from maybe not wanting an easy win? I could understand if you couldn't win with Tyranids in 5th, but opponents not wanting to play them? Wow.

Good choice!
If you do get into other gaming, try some skirmish games, they're a lot easier to get into and not as heavy on the wallet or painting time. Highly recommend Deadzone for a good straightforward sci-fi game.

You want to break them up into lots people can actually play with.. Very few people want HUGE auctions.
If you list on bartertown be prepared for people wanting to try to buy them at like 20% of cost.. I find it more lucrative to simply sell on ebay even them taking a cut (Just raise starting cost to cover).
You'll more than likely have to relist stuff 3-4 times, just be patient. I tend not to do any auction longer than 3 days as you want people to impulse buy your miniatures (works for GW and works for me..)

I sold my 40K stuff (Eldar, in separate squads) earlier in the year on eBay. Bids starting at 25% retail and buy it now was at 50%, and the average selling price was right in the middle.

If you're at all partial to the fluff and/or modeling sides of the hobby, consider keeping at least some of them. You might find you'd enjoy the FFG tabletop RPGs or using them for "counts as" in other tabletop wargames, or just enjoy painting and displaying them.
Lacking that to sell in order: A local forum if you have one, dakka BSS forum or feebay. Feebay definitely last choice due to them taking substantial cuts.

List it all here first, then sell anything that's left on eBay in small logical batches. It'll take a lot longer but you'll get more for it as a lot of people won't want a full army.

This. There are a few rulesets that your minis should be able to slot into with minimal fuss. Warpath, Victory Decision: Future Combat, 5150, Stargrunt, Tomorrow's War, etc.

I finally sold my SOB army. I've given up hope that GW will actually support them or make good rules.
I bought into Infinity and Warmachine and will be buying Infinity's Operation Ice Storm. After 20+ years it kind of hurt, but at the same time, I don't regret it.
I sold my armies to a local FLGS that buys and sells a lot of used minis, but now the used minis section is over saturated. Too many people have sold off their 40k armies here.
On the plus side, my Nomad and Convergence armies are growing!

Should have sold it online where the market is still not over saturated, although if you got your money, it doesn't matter to you much.

I play freaking Eldar and never have trouble finding a game. My local store has a Facebook site, players often post there for games on given days. Of course, I am sick of 40K so I am usually looking for Warmachine, but I never have issues with our method of finding games. "Looking for a game of XXX on Wednesday" followed by a PM to discuss agreed upon rules, followed by a game. I can't even fathom the concept of a true pick up game anymore.
If you are just sick of the game anyway, you will be happy with any number of excellent wargames out there, especially once you trade in your 40k for another army

Im in a similar boat. 21 month old child and zero extra money to spend on hobby. Im keeping my DA as Ive done so much work on the army and I cant walk away 100% yet. Gonna thin out my orks to the point where, -troops, Im at min selection choice (5 burnas, 5 lootas etc). Sell the rest.
Start locally first. You dont have to worry about models breaking in shipping. Go Dakka and Btown next. Before going EBAY, try Craigslist.

If there are any conventions near you with a Bring & Buy / Fleamarket / Stall for selling your own stuff, try and go along to that. It'll avoid the issue of shipping, will let lots of gamers see what they are buying, and should result in you going home with a stack of cash (if you resist spending it on anything else). I've found you can easily get about 50-70% of current RRP for most things (but almost everything I've sold has been unpainted).
