- Day 01 -
Unearthed the mysterious box, accidently activated the power switch. Light overpowered the room and I was thrown into a strange brightly hued ripple in the air......
After punching out the cardstock, trimming the figures and bulkheads off of the sprue, and gathering up a couple of dice, I began the journey through he Underhive.
This time it was going to be different, no compromise, no mercy.
The ancient box had quite a few wonders in it, the first being- literature. First being a small pamphlet for a mail order starter pack. " We'll send you 2 plastic Citadel miniatures, 4 Citadel Colour Paints, (Black, Red, Green, and White), A Citadel Paint brush plus a Citadel Miniatures Painting guide and a World of Hobby Games brochure. All I have to do is to fill in the form, and send it in- Imagine that.
( Try getting a Terminator and a Saurus like that THESE days....

)
Second was a Painting guide, and a couple of cardstock quick play sheets.
Painting guide- Still excellent after the time, and in the cardstock quick-play sheets, Two fresh gangs,( So far) two sheets. Can't ask for more then that.
Cardstock templates, and chits for something called- Overwatch, Broken, Loot, Run, Hidden.
The Blast markers are in the 1, 2, 3, and teardrop templates for a hand flamer ( kids ask your parents what thay is.) Regular flamer, and 4 red whippy sticks. 2 from the game, 2 added from some other game. Good to grind down to 6 and 12 inches and sheer off and flatten the ends.
Bulkheads took an hour to trim, the next day I took them out to the garage and primed them up. Vision so far is to base the cardstock terrain, seeing as my first go around the cardstock didn't last very long when I broke the game down after each time, it took a beating.
To this end, I went down to the craft shop and picked up a few base materials and the wood base. Before I left, I cheated a bit with the bulkheads by using metalized spray paint after the bases, and as it dried went out for the materials. (
AC MOORE is my go to shop in town.)
Figures-
The figures in the base Necromunda box are two different gangs, the Orlocks, a gang of red bandana wearing working class hero's, and The Goliaths, Leather strapped, muscle bound, road warrior types who like nothing more then to break bones and kill a few guys for some laughs.
My box had about eight or so Orlocks, and seven Goliaths that were all single model casts of generic variety. ( Of course I wanted to play right out of the box, but damn if I was going to just stick with the 7 Vs 8, especially when the Goliaths had quite a few options with other models in one of the back rooms.)
SO I took the liberty of digging out a couple of older Catachan and Chaos marauder hybrids that I'd put together a few years back that were just gathering dust. Along with a gak load of weapons, from both the marauders, the catachans, and added in a couple of the equipment, and extra gear from the bits bin, I put on some heads and trimmed them up as well.
Gangs were then fat at around 13 Orlocks, and 12 Goliaths, with room to grow... (Not to mention, modeling and weapons options galore!)
We didn't even have gangs yet. just blank sheets, and the cardstock scenery and a desire to play simpler, more grounded
GW game stuff that I had forgotten about in the back room.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Day 1.5
The firefight erupted on the far side of the scrap heap, I had to keep my head down and dodge to stay out of the line of fire, and quickly headed out of the immediate area. Still have the box, and am trying to figure out a course of action to keep from ending up someone, or something's dinner...
There's a light in the distance, I'll head over there and see if I can find shelter...
- Came back from the shop today and started on the basing for the scenery. Figures are based, ready for priming, and One of the rival gangs, The Delaques, came out of hiding and waylaid me while I was looking for bits. Of course they were looking a little rough for wear, so into the can of Purple-power Stripper they went... All of them.

(We'll strip them down and worry about them later, Plan is to get them up and running later in a few weeks after the two base gangs get up and into the fight.

)
After I get them stripped down they are getting thrown back into their case for the trip back to work.
Before I continued with the bases, I finished off painting and colors on the bulkheads. ( there are quite a few things to do with these sorts of bulkheads, being pre-plastic
GW scenery, there are quite a few out there that can and will be used in one of the back rooms with some cardstock flooring.)
Right now, though we're only worried about the base sets buildings. 2 towers, a bridge, the mine, and some odds and ends bridges and cover, Easy Peasy.
Primer for the Bulkheads- Ultra-primer Black
Colors used for the Bulkheads- Testors Metal Coats Gunmetal
Titanium
Stainless Steel
Aluminum Plate
Base material is from a company called Midwest Products craft Balsa wood, and several smaller bases from Linda's crafts. We'll start Easy, with the Mine Entrance, and the sizing of the Balsa for the larger buildings.
We'll cut the bases, and cover them, then we go to the base coats of primer, and then to the colorings....
1. Mine Entrance- The mine was one of those scrap jobs, with a door, which I've always thought could do a bit with widening, so it could be used as cover, and people could enter and exit, with a cart, or could drag out bodies or something.

2. Two level tower, with a round hole in the center. Don't fall in... Towers going to have a center vent shaft, with a ladder up the inside, as an improvement over the old basic cardstock job.
Base will have easy sand, plastic sprue material, and some blocks to break up the base pattern of the scenery.

3. Three level tower, offset with a smaller level. Base of the towers going to have a couple of power cables, and some plastic scenery to break up the clearing on the bottom level.

4. Base 1 level cover, for a overhang. This is two or three bulkheads offset with the bridge sections. The extra bulkheads are great to give your bridge a break in the crossing, so you have to go up a ladder or two to continue the crossing.

5. L shaped bridge, which is a bulkhead with an L shaped bridge, used to connect toe buildings with

6. 4 level tower, large with a few spots in there that really have always needed some break in the open area.

Biggest thing about Necromunda- You can't have too much for terraign.
Steps in the process-
1. Preset the building,
2. Measure it on the base,
3. Cut down the base
4. Base material, sand, plastic sprue, bits, metal gears and dunnage
5. Primer base coat of the whole base
6. Dry brush the greay ( 2 coats, dark, med, light)
7. Touch up the bits and smaller details
8. Matte coat the bases, to keep the colors set.
8. Hot glue the buildings to the bases.
9. Rinse and repeat for each building.
Jobs not too bad, and each building can be dealt with in a series, such as assembly line processing.
Day 1.5 came to a close with the bases being set to dry, awaiting the next days assembly for steps 5 through 9.
All in all, pretty busy, and doing great
Note- Pictures are being taken along with the project, issues on getting them placed and set to their file. We'll insert them at a later date.
