Hello players,

Thanks to several threads with confusion and questions about Detachments, Formations and Supplements I decided to make a thread to answer most questions.
I will start with a flowchart which I made that should help 9 out of 10 players.
I would like to thank JinxDragon for his feedback so far and ofcourse <insert username I forgot> for making the first start on the Terminology.

After a few days I want to start updating the chart and the first post with a FAQ that answers most questions.
The answers to those questions will be received from this thread itself, so it's not just 'me answering everything'.

While I will keep this bookmarked, I don't think you should be thanking me... I was the arse that made you put in that disclaimer to stop other people like me from complaining.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Hahaha, that's fine!
My teachers always told me that feedback is never bad.

Might also want to include Combined Arms Detachment in the common terminology section, with a definition along the lines of "the detachment represented in the 40k rulebook, consisting of 1 HQ and 2 Troops, with an option to take 1 more HQ, 4 more Troops, 3 Elites, 3 FA, 3 HS, 1 Fortification, and 1 LoW, and conferring the Ideal Mission Commander and Objective Secured rules." I think the release of the Ork codex has cleared up a lot of people's misconceptions, but those who haven't paid attention to it may still be confusing the rules for CAD with the rules for detachments in general.

If I would do that, I would basically have to explain how each Detachment looks like and what its rules are.
I am 99% certain moderators would not endorse that.

I think it sets a good precedent to not treat the CAD as anything special, it's just a random Detachment like all the others.
The only 'issue' is that it's the most common one and Orks are probably the only army to have different kinds of Detachments for now.

What I could do is make a big list telling players where they can find certain Detachments, might be useful in the future when more and more Detachments are released.
