5th Edition SW Codex entry for Thunderwolf Mount "...and has the Rending special rule in close combat with any attack that does not use a special close combat weapon."

The new dex simply says "All close combat attacks made by a model with a Thunderwolf mount have the Rending special rule."

So now we can take any special weapon and gain rending?

That's what it says. There are no restrictions like before if what you quoted is the complete rule.

Just like bike mounted models no longer count just the bike weapons as relentless but the model itself gains relentless.
