Hello everyone, after getting a good deal on some of my friends sealed Leman Russ boxes I have decided to go ahead and construct a Tank Heavy Steel Legion list to counteract my Elysians in terms of both play style and fluff. I am going for roughly a 3000pt. army so I can have some options to mix things up, as well as participate in any Apocalypse games I may come across in the future. It should also be mentioned I am planning on running this list out of both Codex Astra Militarium and Imperial Armor Volume #1 2nd Edition's Armored Company. However as I lay out what I need to purchase for the remainder of my army (a practice I do so I avoid purchasing any unnecessary models) I am somewhat at a conundrum in terms of both fluff and capability as how to finish my army. What is known what I will be purchasing:

-x50 Veterans with x5 Chimeras
-x2 Hydras
-x3 Leman Russ Vanquishers
-x4 Leman Russ Exterminators or Eradicators or Punishers
-x2 Leman Russ Demolishers
-x1 "Command Tank" (Leaning towards a Laser Tank Destroyer or Ryza pattern Leman Russ with magnetized options to change it up)
-x2 Primaris Psykers

Now the above gets me to about 2600pts and with the remaining points I have am considering the following options which I would like to have your input on and to vote on in regards to fluff and capability with the rest of my army.

-Option #1: Macharius Vanquisher: From a Fluff perspective it would be the "Flagship" if you will of my Tank Company assisting the Leman Russes. From a Competitive standpoint a S8 AP3 7inch blast is great vs infantry and light-medium vehicles and the Vanquisher Options definitely makes this tank super universal.

-Option #2: x2 Medusas & x1 more Squad of x10 Veterans in a Chimera: x2 Self Propelled Howitzers that are able to keep up with the rapidly moving Leman Russes and bring some heavy hitting firepower. From a capability standpoint it gives me some more strength 10 templates and with a good range can really help against an array of universal targets.

-Option #3: x2 Leman Russ Executioners: x2 of the feared Executioners wielding their fearsome Plasma arrays to deal with groups of Heavy Infantry and MC's. Capability standpoint it provides my army with some more AP2 and x2 more Leman Russes bringing my total to x12.

-Option #4: x2 Squadrons of x3 Armored Sentinels & x1 Other Hydra: Gives me the "Recon" Element of my Armored Division and some more anti-air capability. It should be noted as well that I will be building the Hydras to double as Wyrven Mortars as well.

Thanks for your input and votes guys and thanks for posting!

Fort Hood (Tx)

Why not a BaneBlade? haha, I'd go with option #4,
but that's because i'm bias towards sentinels.

Medusas and some other tank. Medusas with bastion breacher shells are awesome, but the vets are redundant when you already have that many. Get a third Medusa/squad of Wyverns/etc instead. As for the other options: the Macharius costs almost as much as a Baneblade-class tank but is much less powerful and therefore should only be taken in a narrative game where it is needed for fluff reasons, the LR Executioners are redundant when you already have that many LRBT hulls and can swap turrets, and armored Sentinels just aren't very good.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I think the Medusas are the way to go, but I dont think you need more vets. Maybe medusas and a couple Armored Sentinels. More recon, more artillery.

Well every good artillery has a spotter, that;s what your armored sentinels will act as.

Executioners option. You will love them for dealing with HeavyI nfantry lists.
