Greetings Dakka! A group of my friends play huge (as in 30,000 per side) apocalypse games semi-annually. I've played in two of these so far, and seeing my puny collection next to 4 full companies of Ultramarines has left me feeling well, puny. So I decided that I'm going to make a whole army of friggin' Rambos! There aren't any that participate in these Apocalypse games, and more importantly there aren't many that I've seen in my local area. The Catachans have a lot of interesting formations as well, so I think I will contribute a lot to the group. Without further ado, I present: The Wish List.

Formations:

Commissariat Formation

Catachan Ambush Patrol
PCS
3 IS
Veterans

Catachan Ambush Patrol
PCS
2 IS
2 HWS
Veterans
4 Chimeras

Traitor's Bane

Baneblade Company
3 Baneblades, all command tanks

Hellhound Formation
3 Hellhounds

Valkyrie Formation
3 Valkyries with multiple rocket pods

The Rest: (that doesn't really fit into formations)
Company Command Squad
2 Basilisks
3 Scout Sentinels
Vendetta
4 Leman Russes (Punisher, Vanquisher, Executioner, Demolisher)

I think it is going to make a list of around 7000 points or so, but this thread is going to be more about painting the army than tactics and things. I currently have everything in "The Rest" section, a Hellhammer (waiting for sponsons to make Traitor's Bane), a Baneblade, a Hellhound, 4 Chimeras and all of the infantry models. Painting is another story... most of the vehicles that I have are done, but the vast majority of the infantry (50 guardsmen, a command squad and 2 heavy weapon squads) came in only yesterday! So needless to say, I have some work to do. All of this text is surely boring by now, but pictures soon to follow!

Automatically Appended Next Post:

I ran out of glue before I ran out of steam tonight. Not much to look at, but this and three heavy weapon teams need some combination of glue and/or paint. I forgot to mention, this is going to be a desert themed Catachan army. Tomorrow I will put pictures up of some my more complete vehicles. Several of them are getting some remodeling done to go with the new Catachan look.

A lot of this army is being remodeled from my existing guard, so here are what is mostly done so far:

Some Tanks:

And more importantly, here are the first of the infantry:

The bases on these are from a while ago, but I plan to add some tall yellow grass to some of them. There is quite a bit more to be done with the infantry as well as the tanks.

I've assembled another 30 guardsmen or so, but I don't think I'll post a picture of the big grey blob. I have begun to resalvage a Leman Russ that I got in a trade. A problem I ran into is that I don't have any actual sponsons to go on it, and of course a Leman Russ is only as good as its sponsons. I took a little inspiration from the fluff of Colonel Death Strike and his salvaged Hellhammer. So here is my idea with spare parts from a Vendetta:

The idea behind these is that they are a close quarters version of the normal sponsons better suited to fighting in rough terrain, and being outmaneuvered by faster vehicles (I play against a lot of dark eldar and recently against eldar). Obviously in game terms I can't pivot them 180 degrees, but they look to be about right in terms of the same place as normal ones.

A couple things that I would like feedback on are:

1) Is this even remotely a good idea?

2) Do the multimeltas look convincing?

I like the look of the multi melta conversions. I would add some cables going from the back of the weapon system to inside the tank.

2,000 points

265 point detachment

Imperial Knight detachment: 375

Iron Hands: 1,850

where ever you go, there you are

I thought the back needed something, but couldn't put my finger on it. That is indeed a good idea. Thanks for the reply!

Thanks! There's a lot more to come.

I mentioned that I was making the named Hellhammer, "Traitor's Bane." I did not mention who would be commanding it!

You thought cover was your ally...

You merely adopted cover. I was born in it, moulded by it....

Awesome scene in a great movie. As for your thread, good work so far. If there is one thing the world needs, it's more Catachans.
