I ordered three Gamezone miniatures from CMON. I got a message a few days later stating that they were actually out of stock for one of them, and gave me a refund. Kind of annoying, but it happens. I get the two other models pretty quick, nice. Then I open up the eagle they'd sent me and find it's got three pieces. The problem is that none of these pieces are the upper half to its body. It's the feet and two wings. I've e-mailed their support staff and after repeated attempts all I've got now is someone saying they're e-mailing their manager and marking it as 'urgent' this time. This was three days ago. I got the models two weeks ago. Advice on what I should do? Has anyone else had issues like this with CMON before?

I've had a couple of issues with their customer service. In one case I was able to resolve the issue by bypassing them and going to the manufacturer. The other time it was never resolved.

I'd personally avoid buying things from them in the future.

Remember New Wave Miniatures? Yeah... same guy.

New Wave Mail Order was run by David Doust. From 2000-2004 New Wave would offer things for sale that weren't in stock, overcharge credit cards, never ship product, and constantly lie about it (to the tune of having lied about someone dying three times in a year to delay shipping product). The business had literally hundreds of BBB complaints against them. Eventually Doust was investigated by the Georgia State Attorney, and eventually some customers got some money back. It was incredibly bad during the litigation as Doust would actually misquote or edit people's emails and posts on forums to sound like threats; the Editor of The Miniatures Page had to basically provide original unedited entries during litigation. In the end, hundreds of gamers lost money to New Wave and Doust. While this was going on, Doust funnelled the money into creating CMON. Any mention of New Wave or moneys owed were summarily deleted from CMON forums and for a period links to The Miniatures Page's several threads on New Wave were automatically blocked and users attempting to post about it were banned. CMON was founded on Doust scamming wargamers. Now that it's 8 years after that, many have forgotten or don't know about it, but many still refuse to do any business with CMON because they lost money to New Wave. Many also believe New Wave helped to destroy I-Kore (which became Urban Mammoth) as they were also the distributor for their products, making it nearly impossible for Void to purchases in some areas. Most of this is in the public record and there's overwhelming evidence still available on TMP, warseer, rpg.net, and many other forums. I don't believe Doust has ever apologized or tried to rectify in any way for the hundreds if not thousands of people that were scammed by him. PM me and I can send several links containing bunches of info that I sent to RITides when he asked me.

I'd say make a post on their forums...but that would likely be purged.

CMoN leaves a bad taste for me, as there is a lot more that went on with the New Wave mess than is commonly reported that is still tied into CMoN (and has yet to be resolved in any real way).

Even now, they have done a number of things which are less than respectable in their dealings with both manufacturers and customers/users. I avoid them, and everything they touch like the plague (which is unfortunate - because several things would be appealing, were it not for the company at the top).

That said, it really sounds like you have more of a problem with a manufacturers defect as opposed to a retail issue. Yes, they should replace it - but in most cases, I will contact manufacturers for defective products as opposed to returning to the store I got them from (online or otherwise). This lets them know that there might be an issue to look into (since they might have gotten several issues of mixed up eagles - they may need to look at the way the mold is cut to make it easier to sort and pack).

Now the part that really sucks...

CMoN is now the "exclusive" distributor in the US for Gamezone...so you will likely be stuck back dealing with them. This ended up being a big issue for New Wave as well (and they did drag a bunch down with them)... Used to be able to get them from Warpath and their retail outlet FRP Games (but now FRP is selling through old stock and hasn't been resupplied for almost a year - yeah for shenanigans...).

i never got burned by New Wave, nor CMON, and am always happy to get the hard to find stuff, that only they carry in the US (basically anything that The Warstore isn't selling at a discount)...

when i have had a broken part, or a mispack, i just send a PM on CMON direct to Chern Ann...
it's been about four years since i had a broken piece, but got a free replacement...
all my orders over the last few years have been perfect...

actually, the worst quality casts i ever get are from Gamezone...
their sculpts are beautiful, but go together so poorly...
anything multi-part from them is a complete nightmare to assemble and fill...

best of luck...

cheers
