First off, yes I know the base is sorta weak.

Anyhoo...this is a project that grew out of gluing a piece of a Carnifex onto a CSM assault cannon. There are parts from 8 kits, plus a Spellcrow Chaos head & my first attempts at GSing. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the result, though the power axe is kinda "meh."

As I finished the painting without gluing the arms on, I was kind of taken aback by how huge the dude is once everything came together. Which isn't a bad thing!

I like him, very gribbly! I like the use of the necron parts, especially for the waist, they work quite well. And the base looks okay to me. Fleshborer on the Chaos Marine is neat, I'm sure I just read someone saying about that on here recently. Great stuff!!

Damn, good eye on the Necron bits!

The entire torso and exposed spine are actually from the Necron Destroyer kit. I bulked out the shoulder area with GS and hand rolled "veins". I used the same weapon to make a biolauncher for one of the Marines in my current project.

Liking the 2nd Edition conversion there! I've just stripped some of mine and I've always thought about adding some Chaos details to them, just to see how it would look and based on this, very well it would seem.

I always liked the organic look of the older artwork and the nid weapons fit really well with that theme. I recall Mike McVey in WD 206 (some time back then) talking about the new, cleaner look for Chaos but the early stuff had a certain style even if the models at the time were not as well made. Great to see that here, some very clever conversions.

Haha, good eye! Yeah that little dude has been with me for about 16 years & has made it through several cross country moves and dozens of local ones without getting lost. When my car got broken into in Phoenix and my entire collection + paints was stolen, he was randomly in the pocket of the jacket I had on. He won't win any paint competitions and he's not particularly impressive....but I am pretty attached to the little guy.
