Planning ahead for a 1600 point game. Most likely facing Vampire Counts and High Elves (small chance of some others, though, so I'd like to be able to deal with whoever shows up). Interested in any advice anyone may have:

Lords:
Grey Seer - Foul Pendant
Warlord - Halberd; Warpstone Armour

Heroes:
Chieftain - BSB; Shield; Talisman of Preservation
Warlock Engineer - Wizard Level 1; Warp Energy Condenser; Doomrocket

Core:
28 Clanrats - Full command; Shields; Grey Seer and Chieftain go here
5 Giant Rats + Packmaster
5 Giant Rats + Packmaster
41 Skavenslaves - Musician;
40 Skavenslaves - Musician;
19 Stormvermin - Full command; Shields; Razor Standard; Warlord goes here

Special:
20 Plague Monks - Musician; Standard Bearer

Rare:
Doomwheel
Warp Lightning Cannon

Well I would go either go stormvermin or the plague monks not both. That way you can bump up the unit size because 30 is generally the minimum size.with vampire counts the player will bring a vampire and destroy your unit if its small lol

In all honesty I would probably drop the warlord because your grey seer will be fine as your general and slap a talisman of preservation on him.

The slaves will be a good size especially against vampire counts.

Thanks for the feedback. I've generally found plague monks to be good, so would be happy to increase their numbers. What would you recommend I did to get the necessary points in core if I took out the Stormvermin, though? Just jam a weapon team and some more clanrats in?

I'd you are going to remove the stormvermin you should be able to just bump up the clanrats and put a warp fire thrower in.

I just made this list here for you to see if its something you wanted to try. It doesn't have a grey seer in it but instead I went with the plague priest on a furnace in a unit of 35 plague monks with the plague banner. If you get that unit in combat quick its gunna cause some serious issues by dealing a ton of damage

Depending on the army you face your going to have to watch out for cannons because they will be going after you furnace and doomwheel. Use the gutter runners and your cannon to try and kill and distract enemy cannons.

Once that furnace gets into combat it will destroy the enemy. A lot of people think that since plague monks don't have a save they are to fragile but let me tell you that furnace combo with them is devastating in combat. Use the priest to throw magic into the enemy unit before they get in.

Let me know what you think of that list and any changes you would prefer etc

I had wondered about fitting a furnace in but was concerned that it only gives me one solid hammer unit (although the Doomwheel and WLC hit hard as long as I can protect them).

I quite like that list on the whole (and it wouldn't require me to buy too much, which is a bonus), though I normally gear my BSB for defence, so might keep it at sword/board. Should I be trying to get the warlord into combat with this, or is the warlord mainly there to be the general?

Well doomwheel and furnace/monk unit would be your hammers for sure.

As for kitting out your warlord you can kit him out whichever way you prefer. I always keep him out of combat put him in the clanrats bunker unit with the chieftain and keep that unit behind everything but within the generals range and keep it out of combat as best you can. I just kitted him out that way so in the case that his unit does get charged he might be able to survive same goes for the battle standard bearer.

Halberd is only 2 points for +2 strength so in my opinion that's worth it and more

That seems reasonable; I'll give it a go. Thanks for your input.
