I don't know if General is the place to ask this, but nowhere else seems appropriate. Now, maelstrom objectives seemed like, and still does seem like a great idea to me, barring a few minor tweaks. But the 7th edition rulebook presents them in a very narrow scope, I feel. I proceeded to doodle my ideas down while I got distracted in English class for a few days, but I found that maelstrom objectives are a lot like the questing paradigm in MMOs where fluff and flavor are used to trick you into thinking all these quests are unique, but are in reality, just the same 4 or 5 templates rewritten for different characters and story arcs. Does anyone know about creative ways to spin the maelstrom objective deck?

Also, when the altar of war compilation came out in print, I just nerded everywhere. Alas, I didn't have the money for it. Can anyone who has bought it PM me cliff notes about the missions, or perhaps a strongly worded recommendation for finding it on Ebay or something?

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.

Stacking the maelstrom deck could provide interesting results... (Each person before the game, not in a a cheating way)

For the guy who leaves it all on the field (because he doesn't pick up after the game).

I was thinking about newer ways to implement them. As it stands, if you look at the BRB the maelstrom missions boil down to "draw x cards each turn (to a predetermined total, if applicable)," "draw x new cards at the start of each turn," or "always have this many cards with respect to the number of turns in the game."

I did see one person on Dakka post a mission idea where only one person gets an objective deck, and the other person tries to prevent them from completing those objectives.
