This list is my campaign force versus an Ork list. I believe that he will be packing a Stompa, and at least 120 boyz. So, this is what I'm thinking of taking to combat him.

HQ- Marneus Calgar with Armour of Antilochus = 285
ML2 Librarian in Terminator Armour = 115
5x Honour Guard = 135

Troops- Tactical Squad with flamer, missile launcher and Rhino = 195
Tactical Squad with flamer, heavy bolter and Rhino = 190
Tactical Squad with multimelta, meltagun, combi-melta and Drop Pod = 205

Elites- Assault Terminator Squad with 5x TH/SS in LRC = 475
5 Sternguard Veterans with 2x combi-meltas, 2x combi-plasmas in Drop Pod = 185
(Deathwatch) 10 Sternguard Veterans with 3x combi-melta, 3x combi-plasma, heavy bolter, plasma cannon and power axe =340

Fast Attack- 5 Bikes with 2x grav-guns, and combi-grav = 145

Heavy Support- Devastator Squad with 4x heavy bolters = 110
Whirlwind = 65
Thunderfire Cannon = 100

Formation- Stormwing, Stormraven with lascannon and multimelta, 2x Stormtalons with skyhammer missile launchers = 450

Total-3000
Thoughts?

swap the term lib out with tiggy.

drop heavy weapons from sternguard give more combi melta, drop combi plas give combi-melta (this is anti stompa) use special ammo afterwards if they live.

non deathwatch marines- drop everything, decide if you want them to be flamers or not. Heavy flamers cannot fire the turn you come in or when you move IIRC as they are Heavy weapon? if you want flamers give the squad combi flamers, if not kit them out with something else.

for fluff- give all Sgts. Vet+power weapon.

drop dev squad and 1 tac squad, grab 3-4 dev Centurions put tiggy here, roll for forewarning, perfect timing, and gate.

This, and more pods. I love pods. Try putting all the combi-meltas into one sternguard squad and combi-plasmas into another.

Fluff-wise, where are your honor guard going? I would assume you keep them with Calgar, and in that case where does that little retinue go?
Also, this list could really benefit from some Pedro Cantor love. Pedro makes a few units a bit tougher against orks, makes some sternguard vets scoring, and why wouldn't he want to avenge his home world?

Any versions without Tiggy? I'm not keen on him, as I already have my own Libby, and I've had success with him as it is!
Kantor is out of the question, I'm afraid. I have no spare troops to field him in an Allied detachment, not that I'd really want to in the first place. (Sternguard are already scoring?)
Heavy flamers are Assault 1.
I could try and drop the Devastators or even some of the non-Deathwatch Sternguard to accommodate the Centurions?

just run tiggy's stats as your own special character. problem solved, there is no other reason then to play a normal lib than him. (unless you are that determined to use terminator armor )

mechanically tiggy just makes the list vastly superior

Tiggy is great, but speaking as an Imperial Fists player, you can live without him.

For 3000pts I would say you are not getting many boots on the ground (only 60ish?), and as a result not taking full advantage of Calgar's buff to the TAC squads. Maybe take away some of the toys/transports and get a better mix of static & footslogging TAC combat squads in their? Your list is very mobile but someone has to hang back and hold onto those objectives!

Also, your DEV squad is pretty redundant - the HBs are a waste when you have so much standard bolter fire around, and the PC/ML is not going to cause enough damage. Either recycle the points or go all out with LC/ML/PC fit out.

The Assault Terminator Squad with 5x TH/SS in LRC is a great unit, but against orks do you have a particular target in mind (ie stompa?)? If so, could it be taken out with something cheaper (ie LotD meltapod, or Calgar & honour guard in DP)? Otherwise they will get tarpitted against horde in assault.

Same with the Sternies - lots of expensive combiweapoins there, but against horde naked sternies with special ammo are good enough (hellfire shells!). Scouts with HB & Hellfire are another cheap but effective tool. As for deathwatch, aren't they from the inquisitors codex? They would have to ally I think (not sure though, might want to check).

I also like putting the Libby with the assault DP, rolling on telepathy. Psychic shriek is awesome against low LD units, and you might role on invisibility as a bonus. He cans also tank high AP hits for the squad.

Almost doubles your boot count, but still has plenty of punch. The flamers in the TAC don't benefit from Calgars buff, but they are good and cheap for fighting horde so I left them in on the units that will be going forward.

If in doubt, frag it out...

drop the split weapons, give one team 4 LC, the other 4 MLs or PCs imo.

give one sternguard 10 meltas, keep the others bare, give melta bombs to sgts.

Yes, I think so, but you can get by ok just rolling on telepathy or even pyromancy vs orks

If this is the unit going after the stompa, fine (although 10 is still slight overkill), if not though stick to 2/3 per combat squad, otherwise you will never make the points back.

stompa has 12 HPs, most likely has a KFF for at least 5++, grot riggers. 10 meltas if insurance. 6-7 might could do it, but 10 WILL do it. thats why I always take ten. (8 combi-2 meltas)
