Hey guys just making a 1500pt friendly list for the weekend and I'm very new to fantasy so just wanted comments on the viability of it:

Master Necro LVL 3, Master of the dead

Vampire LVL 1 - Fear incarnate, aura of dark majesty, heavy armour, additional hand weapon, book of arkhan, sword of might, enchanted shield, talisman of protection

5 x Dire wolves
5 x Dire wolves

30x skeleton warriors, champion, standard bearer

30 x skeleton warriors, champion, standard bearer (Necro will join)

20 x grave guard full cmd, great weapons, screaming banner (vamp will join)

3 x vargheist /w champ

Terrorgheist

Basically relying on the neg fear modifiers from my vampire to allow my GG to hit easier and be harder to hit, with rerolls on van hels if it goes off. Though not sure if banner of the barrows would be a better choice

Too many magic items on the vampire. You only get 50 points, and you have a 65 points of magic items.

I'd swap the skeletons to a 40 unit and a 20 unit, and put the necro in the 20 man block.

Hmm what should I drop? Book of Arkhan?

Whats the reasoning of putting necro in the smaller unit?

The necro doesn't want to be in combat at all. The larger unit can screen the smaller one. You don't need a full 30 guys to hide from combat, and you could really use those guys on the unit that you do want in combat.

As for the gear, you've got a weird mix. You bought an additional hand weapon that you cannot use (you must with the sword of might and shield). I'd drop the book. In fact, I'd drop all his gear, and just go with a 4+ ward and enchanted shield. 3+/4++ is pretty good, and 4 S5 attacks is enough, especially in a unit throwing out another 10 S6 killing blow attacks. Having a survivable guy in the unit is important.

If you can find the points, get either a dispel scroll on the necro, or shift the book to the necro. At 1500 points, I'd take the book.

Ok thanks! How's this? Also- should I be taking the wolves in a squad of 10?

For 1500 points, that looks solid.
Just watch out for the frenzy on those Vargheists, only Ld8 near the general means they are fairly easy to pull. I'm not a huge fan of them, but plenty of people have success.

Go for 2x5 dogs. You only want larger units when you run them with the unit champ. That way, you can challenge, lose the champ, and still survive the crumble. It's awesome for tying up dragons/daemon princes, or any huge beat stick character that is acting on his own.

Thanks for the advice, ran this list all weekend and worked wonderfully & won all my games. Only had to change my vampire items etc and grave guard banner against tomb kings though.
