Prologue

Colonel Lawrence Hardy~ 7 years into the war of the kraken

I yelped in delight as the giant beast was beaten to a pulp by my E-500 energy rifle. The flaming hover cars and rubble beside the monster offered little cover. My assigned platoon was good at this stuff, he thought. Maybe even better if they had E-500s like me.
"Janson!" I yelled. "get your arse down here now!"
"Coming! Hostiles are after me, make sure you shoot the buggers down!" I could barely see Janson running for his life; he had a limp and struggled to sprint as seven of the Kraken soldiers chased him in hot pursuit. I quickly dropped them and a predatory grin began to dominate my face when I saw the pool of green goo began to paint the floor. The dead carcasses would be burned to ash in the blaze, I thought. Suddenly the apartment I was standing in now exploded into flame and tossed me off of the roof.

>_ Diagnostics: Critical damage to torso, lungs damaged, primary power source compromised.
>_IMS: Repairs in progress.

Duh! Why wouldn't the integrated medical system not be repairing the armour? Stupid bloody machine! I carefully pressed the quick release button on my chest and the power armour propelled itself of my body. I fumbled for my E-500 but it wasn't here. I carefully picked up my PE-7 pistol up when something huge kicked me in the face. Then I realised: The Kraken had found me.

I instantly stopped squirming around the floor and didn't resist what came next they shoved a brown scaled strap that resembled a collar around my neck, then dragged me into one of their massive APCs and tossed me carelessly into a seat. A Kraken soldier then strapped my harness a little to tight, then cuffed me to the seat I was in, again just a little to tight. He then waved a remote in front of my face then pressed one of the five buttons. I suddenly couldn't breathe, couldn't breathe couldn't breathe!

Chapter one:

General Ryan Smith~ Republic of Taskel, aftermath of the Kraken occupance

I looked through the grime covered window to see dust and blood cover every inch of the road before me. I'm devastated. This was MY world, not theirs! The bloody gits couldn't stop themselves from raiding, could they? I was responsible for this, and I'm sure id be demoted or even sacked when I was moved to Xahoti. The seven remaining squads from the Kraken incursion where all jam packed into two APCs which were only built for 15 men in each.

The remaining rations were split between both the APCs.
"HELP ME!!" screamed a voice nearby that alerted everyone.
"Where coming!" I yelled, then I said to my men, "take an APC to pick that person up. It may be a civilian. Move out."
"Sir yes sir!" Shouted the soldiers in unison, and the lead APC sped towards the source of the scream. We all needed a rest from this, there were still Kraken left on taskel, so this could save a life.

15 minutes later...

"This is Delta seven, requesting backup!" I heard through my radio. The Kraken soldiers had ambushed us in the buildings surrounding the civilian. I sprinted out of the APC with my PE-3 pistol. PE-7s were built for bloody power armour, the PE-3 was designed for high ranks. I took cover behind a building which looked the most sturdy around. I stepped out of cover and fired a quick burst. Hitting one of the creatures in the chest, I took cover again behind the stone wall. I thumbed my radios open com button and said "This is Ghost, we are outnumbered. Delta squad rescue the civilian while we retreat. We'll live to fight another day, I reckon." With that the battalion reatreated, firing at still visible Kraken.

When we arrived at camp, which was basically just an enclosed space which could park the APCs, I collapsed into my bed. I was lucky; others were forced to sleep in the mud or on the floors of the APCs, but I suppose for now this is the most luxury we will get until our rescue team arrives. Unto then we also had to stay low.

I shuffled across the corridor with want little speed the manacles tightly binding my feet together could. Flanking me were two Kraken, what appeared to be their equivilent of civilians because, although they had guns, didn't wear combat uniform or ammo pouches anywhere. The collar around my neck had disappeared, but the consequences of that were much more restraints. One of the Kraken litterally tossed me into a room, and the door locked shut. Another Kraken life form was in the room, and began to remove my restraints while another held me at gunpoint. The dreaded collar was placed around my neck again.
"You will be tested, Human. But first I need to ask you a question: What is your name?" A Kraken said through a speaker. That was amazing! The Kraken could communicate with us, but how would they even let us get on the same planet?
"I am Colonel Lawrence Hardy, 732nd Marine corps. May I ask you your name?"
"I ask the questions, Human." I felt the strangulation come again, something that had been present since my first days here.
"I apologize sir, but seriously, what should I call you?
"You will call me Superior, now that your just a labrat. Think yourself lucky, your comrades weren't as co operative as you. We will run some physical tests to get started."

General Ryan Smith~ Republic of Taskel, aftermath of the Kraken incursion

I readied my PE-3 and checked the chamber was loaded. Today we are heading to the Extraction point 50 miles away. Georgie Baxter, a slim Latino woman, approached me and said, "The APCs are ready, sir. But we have a dilemma." This sounded intriguing.
"What is the dilemma, Lieutenant?" Georgie looked concerned, though their was a look of smugness on her face.
"Your being releived of duty, sir." I readied my PE-3, but I didn't know what to do.
"Lieutenant, I don't think I am. If this is a joke, tell me now."
"It isn't, sir. At this moment Kraken assault teams are heading here now, drop your weapon." I could see Sargeant Blake Harrington, his pistol raised, slowly creeping behind Georgie.
"I'm afraid I'm going to have to arrest you, Georgie." She laughed, which drawn the attention of a couple of soldiers nearby.
"You're going to be arrested, sir. I have the advantage, remember? Give me the pistol. Harrington poked her with his pistol and poised it against her head.
"Stand down, bitch. You ain't arrestin anyone." I could hear something loud and strange in the distance, and I wish I could know what it was. Georgie grinned.
"That's the Kraken, sir. Make sure you run!"
Several of the hulking beasts appeared from the barricaded building a hundred metres or so away and raised their cannon like armament readied. "Stand down, Humans." One of the Kraken shouted. "no harm will be done to you if you do not resist. Me and my colleagues will give you three seconds to drop your weapons and put your hands on your heads."
"What should we do, lads?" I said. There was only four hostiles, there was seventeen remaining marines left and seventeen marines could beat four Kraken soldiers easily.
"I think you should drop your weapons. These are the advanced party." Georgie explained.
"Shurrup, bitch." Harrington said. Then Harrignton gurgled and dropped lifelessy onto the floor. He had been shot! Then more Kraken appeared and pointed their weapons at my marines. We were surrounded. I dropped my PE-3 and put my hands on my head.

Chapter two:

Prisoner Lawrence Hardy~ A'bellar system

With sweat on my forehead and the green prison fatigues sticking to my back, I stepped off of the treadmill and slumped into the chair beside the treadmill. One test took two hours. Two hours! I could have a bloody four course restaurant meal in that time.
"Well done, Subject Hardy. You have completed the test." A Kraken civilian walked into the room and removed the collar from my neck before handcuffing me.
"Thank you, Superior. Will that be all?" I gasped, barely catching my breath.
"Yes, that is the last physical test today. You will have a mental test shortly." I sighed with exhaustion. These tests will be the end of me!

General Ryan Smith~ Republic of Taskel

"You don't want me to die, do you Georgie? Do you want us to die?" I was desperate now. She grinned at me.
"You're to dumb, sir." And with that she stepped into the Kraken vehicle. A Kraken soldier held me at gunpoint. I heard a gun go off. Then I felt pain. Then I felt nothing at all.

Prisoner Lawrence Hardy~ A'Bellar system

The mental tests were worse than the physical ones. An hour of throwing balls at things and maths. It was crazy! I sat in my dingy cell which contained a flimsy chair and a table. I heard a creaking noise. The door was opening! I peeked through the small gap in between the rusting metal door and the dull grey stone walls. I was surprised to see a marine in full combat gear patiently waiting for the door to open. His armament was a HMG-320, the most powerful gun a guy in power armour could get. The 501st Power regiment, the department that employs elite marines and equip them with power armour and guns specifically for them.
"Time to go, sir." The man said. "call me Lieutenant George Stone." He thrown me a PE-3 and he vestured for me to follow him down the uniform black corridor.

Tei'Varyk~ N'Tyrrik system

The scientists granted me acces to the central detention center, designed specifically for humans. Why do they call us Kraken? We're Parcae for gods sake! I walked down the corridor with my bodyguards, Valjoth and Chailen in tow. I sensed something and stopped. Chailen and Valhoth had sensed it too, and obviously assumed it was a threat. They raised their Gauss cannons and scoped the end of the plain black corridor. The disruption in everyone's senses became a loud crunching sound, and I ran towards it.

Private James Trinity~ republic of Taskel

I lay on the wet floor, mud covering my uniform. I was advised to stay on the floor until necessary. Georgie had us binded one by one with what passed as the Krakens handcuffs, while the Kraken soldiers had their rifles on us. I don't know how Georgie managed to communicate with them, but she did. All that mattered now was to make sure that I survive.

I will post more whenever I can, but for now I have to go. Bye
