Nice paintjob... But... What are those things sticking out of his shoulders? Are you sure this is Abaddon?

One of the cooler conversions I've seen in a while, subtle and fitting. Great work.

Awesome. This is converted from Horus, right?

Won't he be a bit big for Abby?

Cool conversion but I'm a bit biased as I turned my Horus into a Space Wolf (the ultimate heresy!).

He definitely stands head and shoulders over a modern terminator Abaddon conversion let alone the "official" model from back in 2nd edition. In the end, though, it doesn't matter much as long as he is based appropriately.

The fig is converted from the Forgeworld Horus Heresy fig of Horus the Warmaster. Horus' first legion was the "Luna Wolves". Therefore the wolf cloak!

You clearly haven't heard about Abaddon the Armless.

That is amazing! I tossed around a similar idea of using yoymart Abaddon and Horus to make an Abaddon after he takes the talon but before 40k, using preheresy Abaddon body and the arm from Horus, but this blows that away.

That's a pretty cool conversion and I like the paintjob.

My only beef is it seems his head is too far back in his armor. I figure it probably ended up where it did because of the topknot getting in the way, but it just looks like it needs to be forward a bit more toward the center of the head cavity part.

If you've got the official Abaddon fig(s) (either the GW or FW ones), can you post a side by side pic? I don't think most folks realize how impressively large the base Horus model is. It really makes abby look like a proper lord of war.

if you look at the updated version (the one where i redid the hair) you will see i addressed that as I had the same thoughts after looking at the pictures
But getting it perfect isnt possible with the sodding topknot

I didn't notice the last one had a different hairstyle and re-placed head. Looks a LOT better that way. Well done!

Also in regards to "Ol' Armless," Abaddon's original pewter form was notorious for having his arms fall off. Without solid pinning, his arms were just so heavy they'd all eventually just fall off. It became it's own meme over on 1d4chan.

Warning: Heavy fa/tg/uy language involved. The 1d4 wiki I personally think is hilarious but it is still 4chan so user beware.

That is one awesome Abandon. In the novels he is described as barely fitting in a terminator armour, so fluffvise he is spot on

Exactly

I hated the fact that before he was blessed by the chaos powers he could hardly fit in terminator armour. Then with the chaos powers he somehow shrunk. Well his model sure made him feel like as much. When Horus was released I got the model instantly to make this conversion. (pity it took me so long to actually sort him out mind lol)

Abaddon was actually a pretty good model when you consider the time frame he came out in 2nd edition in the early/mid 1990's. Back then, most of the heroes were relatively 2D except for a generic plastic arm occasionally and he was a 3D breath of fresh air compared to most. Just look at Ulrik and Ragnar from the space wolves to see some of his compatriots. He was also a pretty large model for that time when you included all his "bling" like the trophy racks and weapons especially the talon. You're comparing him to models sculpted a decade or more later during which terminators have grown significantly and even swapped bases to 40mm. I agree that the model looks small *now* but he certainly was impressive (both in size and detail) for over two editions of 40k. It is just a bit sad that they haven't updated him officially (and I say officially as you can basically make your own abaddon out of the plastic chaos lord kit).

Forgeworld says what?

It's all the same company, just different divisions within it. And I say it counts, dammit!

*hopes we get a proper 30k version of Ahriman at some point*

That technically isn't an update but more of a prequel. I'm talking 40k Abaddon, not 30k.

I bought the original Abbadon when he was 1st originally released. Back then yes he was amazing. But like will things from those days, they just dont really measure up quality wise to modern day sculpts.
