I feel like your list is lacking in versatility, you just don't have the number of units to counter most armies, I reccomend splitting into 2 20 man units of spear men, but that's just my opinion. other then that, not to bad of a list.

The problem is spearmen don't always do a ton of damage unless I cast magic so making 2 small units seems worse to me.

What sounds better?

personaly, I run my spearmen at lothern sea guard because the bows and martial prowess match up pretty well, it makes them more effective then spearmen, and only slightly more expensive

I run them often as well but 25% more cost for s3 bows doesn't cut it
