I am a 40K player and have never played Fantasy, but after years of painting the odd Fantasy mini here and there and watching gamers at my local GW duke it out in the Fantasy arena, I figure it's time to take the plunge into Fantasy myself. I recently returned to tabletop gaming after taking a hiatus. It's amazing to see all the new minis I have missed in the last few years and I am trying to play catch up! My main 40K armies are Nurgle Chaos Space Marines and Space Wolves. A Nurgle themed Warriors of Chaos army just seems a natural fit. I have had 0 experience in building a Fantasy army list, but I need to give myself a good starting point for purchases I need to make, so I turn to Dakka Dakka. I do not have the WoC army book yet, but I will be getting that this weekend. I've been going through my boxes of stuff and found a few items that will form the basis of my beginner army. I'm just wondering if what I have is a good start and what I should get to build my force to 1500 points. I'm not looking for much information on what I should add specifically, but just a general idea of what I should or shouldn't buy next. Any input you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated!

Here is what I have already:
- Fantasy 25th Anniversary Harry the Hammer (I plan to use him as a Nurgle Lord on foot with a little bit of conversion work)
- Crom the Conqueror (I plan to use him as Crom or as a general Lord of Hero on foot)
- Nurgle Lord (metal with 2 handed weapon - may use him as a Sorcerer)
- Plastic Giant (I bought this kit to do a scratch build for a GUO, but just couldn't get it to work. So I will build him as Nurglfied Chaos Giant. I would take suggestions on how to outfit this guy)
- Warriors of Chaos x 12 (I will build them with full command and hand weapons and shields)
- Chaos Marauders x 16 (I will build them with full command and flails or great weapons. Not sure which yet)
** I may have a few other items sitting around that I've forgotten about, but I think this is the main portion so far. I'm pretty sure it isn't viable in of itself even in smaller point levels, but this will form the core from which I add to my army.

What I plan on getting to build the force up:
- Warriors of Chaos Battalion (combined with what I have, gives me a few solid blocks of troops to work with)
- Chaos Knights x 5 (to have a total of 10)
- Putrid Blightkings (what would any Nurgle WoC force be without these awesome new baddies!! A box or two depending on overall point values)
- Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount (loved this model since it came out and kick myself for not getting a metal version - will put him with chaos knights)
- Gutrot Spume (not sure if he is good or necessary, but he fits with the theme)
- Nurgle Chaos Sorcerer (to have a sorcerer in my army)
- Chaos Chariot
- Slaughterbrute (eventual purchase. awesome looking model, but low on priority)

Will these two lists get me going in the right direction? Is there anything in there that's not really worth buying yet? Is there anything I'm missing that a Nurgle themed Warriors of Chaos army will need to have to be viable? I appreciate any input you guys can give me. Thanks!

Here is what I plan to get in what I perceive as Important (or it just looked cool):

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. Grrr.

I was looking at Feestus anyway, so I will add him to the list.

Haha, I won't chop Harry up! I'm just going to give him a semi-Nurgley paint job on the armor. I was going to do most of the conversion work on a suitably Nurgle base to give off the impression that Nurgle's putrid light shines on him.

Halberd and board is better than sword n board, imo

following advice on this forum I run my Chaos warriers with halberds, shields and MoN. You do need those shields the amount of fire these guys attract.

You will lose a few on the way over but them proceed to steam roll though the opposing army

The extra strength on the halberd is definitely worth it over the 6+parry. The MoN gives a minus 1 modifier on the opponents to hit roll - this results in less hits and I believe statistically is better than the 6+ parry

I run Nurgle with Halberds and Shields and they haven't let me down yet.

The output is a bit less than MoK, but they make for a horrid unit. If you combine them with Festus, then they are poisoned too.
