I just read the faq and it looks like a model can have 0+ armor? It says "just the throw is capped at 1+" so you could have a 0+ armor but take armor saves on a 1+. Likewise being str 4 would make your 0+ model have a 1+ saving throw?

Those are old rules. No model can have a better then 1+ save

It looks like they can get better then a 1+, some used to be able to get a -3 i think but regardless they still failed on a 1. What matters there is the roll modifier for armor pen. Right now in the curent rules it is capped at 1+

And have you read the faq?

"Change the third paragraph to “Note that a save of any kind
can never be better than 1+. This does not prevent a model
having items or special rules that would take the save even
lower, it simply caps the saving throw at 1+. Also, remember
that a roll of 1 is always a failure.”"

To me this means you can still get a -3 armor save, but you'll still fail on a 1, even with a -4 armor save modifier

not quite......it is possible to get that low of an armor save but for the purpose of calculating the armor modifiers it starts at a 1+. So a 1 will always fail but you cant have a 0 up armor and not take any modifiers until str 6. So effectively when adding up armor saves it could go below 0 but it is always calculated as a 1+ for saving throws and as always 1 is always a failure

That just means that you can't get any lower than 1+.

There is nothing stopping you from having Chaos Armour, Scaled Skin, Enchanted Shield and a Barded Horse (-2 armour save) however, instead of being a -2 armour save it is a 1+.

The FAQ basically means that any save better than 1+ counts as 1+.

So a model with a 0+ armor save that takes a str6 hit(-3 to saves) will only save on 4+, not the 3+ the old 0+ possibility would give.
