I've recently started looking at all these different manufacturers of bags and boxes and foam for army transport and I am honestly I am a bit flummoxed.

Where do I get started? Does anyone have a recommendation, based on their own experiences on how to go about getting started? Are there some manufacturers better than others? Is it a matter of taste? Do I get rubbermaid boxes and actual gamer foam? Should I get custom cut foam or basic stuff?

Help me out here people. There is so much out there and I have nowhere local that carries it all so I am stuck with mail order, so I can't get an idea of what is good or what is bad before I buy (which I HATE), but the shoe boxes and cafeteria trays are overflowing at the moment.

I've got four full armies and they are only growing, so whatever I do will need to be able to expand.

HELP!?!

I've had success just buying cheap plastic tubes and cushion foam that comes in all sizes. Its a hassle to cut the foam yourself but to me the prices these companies are charging for boxes filled with foam are just outrageous. Doing it myself its about 1/10th the cost

There are a lot of manufacturers out there, and each has their proponents. I’m a fan of KR Multicase; I think they strike a good balance of price and quality. Battlefoam is another big name. There is always the DIY option, with random foam and plastic tubs a/o gun cases.

Look at what you have, and how much you are willing to spend. Custom foam is pricy, but nice to have. Before I got my KR, I was packing tanks and all my other non-infantry minis is scraps of foam. Took forever to pack/unpack. It’s so nice just to be able to drop things into the right sized slot and be done with it. You can get pluck foam for less, but it’s generally not as space efficient. Battlefoam will laser cut exact trays to your specs, but you pay top dollar for that.

This is a topic that comes up a lot, so a little research should get some hits. One problem is that there is no right answer, just a lot of opinions. And what’s best for one army might not be the best for another.

The dark behind the eyes.

My friends and I use the Figure Cases from GiftsforGeeks:

What I really like is that you can customise them to suit your individual army. We generally use the Tyrant size case (above), but they also do other sizes:

Yeah, when i read the small novel that is the Death Guard unit options and think about resolving the attacks from a melee-oriented min size death guard squad, the thing that springs to mind is "Accessible!"

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.

Please report to your nearest GW store for attitude readjustment. Take your wallet.

Depends. I've gotten away with fishing tackle box for small armies, but for big ones, battle transports are probably the best. Also, Battle Foam has a sale coming up for Thanksgiving.

An old sturdy suitcase with old tshirts as padding, and cheap foam from a hardware store cut out as needed...has served me quite well so far, and cheap!

Admittedly not much to look at, but I don't care
