Take one imperial knight, nearly 200 individual skulls, a terrorgeist and some other bits. Pile them up on a workbench, add six tubes of superglue and pray to the dark gods.

The result:
THE HUNTER, deamon knight of khorne, herald of the eternal hunt and one of the four legendary harbingers of the final days of
Mankind.

No one knows the origin of the beast known as the hunter, but rumours abound of a once noble knight household driven insane when they're homeworld was swallowed by the warp. The knights slaughtering those they once vowed to protect. Eventually the planets population was reduced to zero. the one time protectors reduced to murderous avatars of rage then turned upon one another, fighting until only one remained.

This genocide caught the eye of the blood god Khorne, pleased by the bounty of blood and skulls provided by this fallen knight, Khorne elevated the warrior to deamonhood. Now warped and twisted beyond all recognition, and fused to his mighty war machine, knowing nothing but eternal rage and hatred, the hunter is drawn to the most brutal warzones. His ferocious roar preceeding him, turning the bones of all but the bravest or most foolhardy to jelly.

He's not quite finished yet but I have a modelling comp on saturday so I'm hoping he'll be done by then. However, I'm not sure whether to go with a very basic scenic base, or clear polished perspex. Either way it would only be a temporary base as I have plans involving an ultramarine predator. Opinions please?

Great job. The skulls work really well. Might have to try that with zombie heads for a nurgle knight!

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Great looking Knight! I was reading the preamble before seeing the pictures and it built up to it nicely.

I cant help but feel that the left shoulderpad should be more than just flat red. Maybe there is a way you can paint in a symbol of Khorne, or maybe a skull... Just something to make a large, relatively uninteresting area more visually pleasing.

Good luck, and post more pictures!

I get your point dude, and yeah I have plans for the other shoulder too, involving this piece and some brass paint. Not sure if it shows in the pics but the red isn't flat, its high gloss. Not exactly easy to paint with but thats the attraction. :-)

I also have plans to represent the other three chaos gods, before adding a few chaos undivided ones and possibly even malal

Looks great. It really fits well into the 40k universe and barely looks like a conversion at all because it looks very natural.

My only (minor) criticism is that the guns seem to be somewhat weathered while the shiny red armor is spotless. So the weathering isn't consistent or maybe you just aren't done with it.

But overall, wow. Nice conversion work!

how did you do the shoulder and leg with the skulls?

Its actually quite simple, but very time consuming. Basically I cut out and stuck on every individual skull. As I said, it isn't difficult to do, but the shoulder alone took a full weekend to do.
