My First attempt at a Blood Angels 1000pts list

Sternguard and Dread drop first turn and take out Key problem units like Tanks, Monsters and Pathfinders. Librarian uses appropriate powers to cause further damage or keep sternguard safe.

Tacs charge up and disembark on objectives. Razors go for Tanks, Monsters and TEQs.

Death Company charge up to cause trouble

Advise would be much appreciated as this is my first marine army.

For a thousand points this is a pretty solid list.

A concern:

1. That stern guard squad might be a bit of a point sink and you may be giving up a quick warlord kill. Would an honor guard be a better choice point for point?

For 100 points you could have 5 guys with fnp, and you can take 3 melta guns, and a bit of melee goodness. Add on the 5++ sanguine power and you have a relatively durable squad that can be a melee problem with the sanguine primaris on the company champion.

Your stern guard squad is 160 before drop iirc.
Honour guard is 130 before pod. That's enough to put a heavy flamer in each tactical squad, and a locator beacon or some other 10 pts somewhere.

An assault squad of 5 guys and 2 melta and 1 combi-melta in a pod is just over 100 points. That is 2 fewer melta shots turn1. But you get 2 more shots turn 2 if you last that long. No warlord loss, no concern if you get blasted in enemy shoot phase, no elite slot eaten up

Maybe even take 5 more assault squad guys in the pod for the points you save and then you have bodies to have better chance of firing 2 more melta shots turn 2. Or you could Combat squad and make a meat shield or maybe the non melta squad can run for cover and they less than a priority so maybe they survive in cover near the enemy lines. Tie up a riptide in cc or something nuts

Swapping the Sternguard for Assault Marines is a great idea and seems a much better use of points.

Any idea where the best place to put the Librarian is? Maybe put him with the Death Company? Their a tough shield and he'll be in the open and able to cast his powers.
