Dear Dakka,

It’s hard to get a BFG game these days, which is a shame because it’s a barrel of laughs. I invite anyone out there to join me at the Warhammer Gaming Guild in Clapham, London, UK to play in some friendly exhibition matches. To help build a sense of community, I would also like to start recording battle reports and taking pictures of fleets, asking people about what they think about the hobby ect
I’ve only ever done learner games before and include some pictures of my fleets below.

Is anyone interested? It would be Thursdays after work playing 2010 revised (though BRB on request) and all added ships in the expanded compendium.

I'm not in the area, so I can't join! however, this smells like a potential article for Warp Rift, a BFG webzine that we're trying to revive over at the Specialised Games forum.

Battle reports, or any other article about BFG (or other space ship games like Firestorm Armada, etc) are welcome.

By the way, those smaller Imperial vessels, are those the Viper escorts from Grim Dark Bits?

I am a fan of Warp Rift and commend Specialised Games on its continued good work. I will certainly be trying my best to produce some content which may be of interest to BFG / other space fleet game players. If any of it comes to standard, maybe I can submit.

And good eye, they are indeed GDB Vipers (as far as I am concerned they are a 'must buy' for any imperial admiral). In my chaos fleet I have purchased some of Armands (also safeways) Chaos re-imagined Escorts. I must prefer the prows and I enjoy the more 'streamlined' appearance, though he has maintained the aesthetic well.

Could you post some pics of those, very curious to see what they look like in real life and painted up.

HATE Club in Bethnal Green are just getting into BFG - expect to see four or five fleets hitting the tables at some point in the next few months. Maybe we could arrange for a night of 'teaching us how to play the fething game'?

Four or five fleets? Good work. I would be more than happy to come down to B Green and help get a starter game organised. I have set up little ‘cheat books’ for 2 small fleet conflicts or if someone has got their own, we could jump into that (though I may need a refresher myself if it’s Tyranids or Necrons). Perhaps you could mention it to your group (nice website btw) and start a thread? (if not done already).

@ Malika2 – I will get my ol bridging camera out tonight and see if I can get some pics! My painting technique is less than special but I think they look quite nice in a beige on red scheme).

Getting into London is not cheap, but if I can make it I will help out.

BFG is hard to source so I will play whatever fleet you are most lacking from this list:

Imperial, Chaos, Astartes, Orks, Eldar, Necrons

I can do 2k+ (actually 3k) for any fleet except Orks and Space Marines, who can just about manage 1500pts.of.

Hi Orlanth - nice signature quote (now I think of it the few spaceship scenes in Lynch's Dune do feel very BFG). I encourage you use the fleets that you'd like (you have quite the collection!), though I'd add maybe playing something thats not Imperial or Chaos would certainly be a treat for me (though this is completely up to you). I am still aiming at around 1000pts but am expanding upward slowly.

Where are you coming in from?

Oh and here are some god awful ship pics - my good camera wouldn't work and blackberries just suck. I will take better ones soon.

Well, can't get out to Clapham and back to Abbey Wood in SE London in a night sadly, but I go to the free club in Euston - Central London Wargames Club http://www.clwc.org.uk/ - can meet someone there for a game.

Euston / Morn Crescent is certainly in my strike range (had a look at the website, slightly different [more historical] games than what im used to seeing). Lets chat about dates on PM. What fleet do you have btw?

Yeah, 3 historical systems and Epic tend to dominate.

Model wise have everything but painted wise I only think Necron, orc and Chaos. Maybe others - can't remember!

I believe they're using the upgrades rules. There's a starmap, opportunities to repair and refit ships, everything.

Man, that sounds pretty cool. Perhaps you could tell us how you get on? Certainly wouldnt mind taking a look at that star map / how it works / fleets involved.

In other news - looks like I may get up to 3 games this month. Which is pretty rad.
