It's a cool concept, although it's I think the effects on the model itself look a bit overdone: it looks like it's sloppily applied paint rather than swamp goo. The effect in the last photo is much better, I'd aim for this rusty, decayed look rather than the "covered in muck" look. I also see a couple of mould lines that you should get rid of.

Thanks man it is my first model so there is only up to go hahaha I know about the mould lines i do need to fix them I liked the real muddy look hahaha. I am sorry for the really bad images I used my phone and as the model its self is so small i could not get a good image of it. Only other thing i can't do is paint the eyes to save my life I use the smallest brush but I can never get the little dot eyes.

No problems at all, everyone's been there with their first model Fair enough if you like the muddy look, I would agree with your idea to paint their eyes: something really sharp and eye-catching (excuse the pun) would really make them stand out.
Best thing is just practice.
Practice.
Practice.
Practice.
I've been painting for about 10 years and even now it takes me roughly 15 mins to paint the eyes on a single model, you just have to take your time on it.

I'm finding it impressive that you've tried OSL on your very first model! By no means a bad attempt at it on the chest either.

Love it Definitely agree with the above point regarding mould lines; they're easily removed and make for a far nicer finish.
Other than that, Love the rusty look and in IMHO, It's not overdone at all.
Fantastic first attempt man.

Really nice idea. Decent rust effect. Good effort on the source lighting which is amazing for your first try! And nice basing too. Yes you've missed a mould line and precision painting will come with practice but A whole army painted up like this will be seriously impressive for your first foray into the hobby. Really well done
Lucas.

I do think that you've captured a decayed and corroding look very well. I've seen bits of old cars and machinery dumped in swampy water that look a lot like that.
Honestly, the one thing that looks a bit off is the clear green plastic part of the gun, but given what that's supposed to represent, I'm not sure if it's something that can change.
I like it quite a lot.

Hahaha thanks guys I am really glad that you liked them. I now have three more done and have worked more on the basses. I have looked up how to remove moldlines and i am waiting for my tools to come so i can remove them.
For the ground i used glue to make that water {I know that is most likely dumb but i am waiting for my still water to come before i work on my dooms day ark and my other guys} I have also put some reeds on the basses now {I made them out of a cheep paint brush and green paint} and i got some still moss but it looks like its two big so i might not be able to use it.
I had looked up lots of images of Necron before i started from that i got the idea to use OSL by dry brushing some green was not sure if i had did it right haha.
@toasteroven
Yea man thanks very much before i started i looked up old images of cars and that to get the idea for the rust fx hahaha.
@docdoom77
 Those swamp bases are so much better than mine hahaha.
Here are my guy's so far I am very sorry about the bad images I am no good at taking pics haha.

You don't necessarily have to have "water effects" or something similar to convey water/swamp. A few layers of non-aerosol gloss varnish painted on an appropriate surface can do the trick.
For example, I've attached a base I did for a Knight with a somewhat swampy theme. Accomplished by laying down some texture paint with layers of green, finished with a few layers of gloss varnish.
Also, for the moldlines, you can scrape those away with the edge of your hobby knife if you don't have a specific moldline removal tool.

When you're first start, I would honestly paint one model at a time. The reason being, you realize a new trick or shortcut of technique with each model, or realize that you want to change a color or something with each model. It gives you a chance to play around with how you do things early on. Once you've locked down your concept, then start painting with groups. And you can always go back and strip those first couple models and repaint them.
And yeah, eyes are a pain in the backside. Even as I've gotten better at almost everything else, I still have trouble with eyes. I just finished a wolf guard, and he looks like somebody just came up behind him and gave him a prostate exam without warning. That base is sexier than most of the models I see.

Awww man that looks so cool I did mine all water becouse i wanted to look like they where coming up out of the water haha and yea I have sent away for a hobby knife then i will have to scrape them down and then repaint them .

Yea bro thats what i ended up doing haha I am really slow and each of them takes around 2 / 3 hours to do.
For the eyes what i ended up doing is taking one strand off one of my old paint brush's dipping it in to the paint and then slowly painting the eye with that hahaha.
