Hi Everyone. I have been playing Warhammer since 5th edition and have recently gotten back into the hobby after a ten year hiatus. I have a a nice Bretonnian army and have been having a lot of fun and success with them recently as I learn eighth edition. I always liked orcs and gobbos though and I am sick of painting Knights so I decided to start a new army. I picked up the army book and acquired some old metal and sixth edition plastic minis. Here is my 1000 point starter army list them I will plan my first purchases around. What do you guys think? Keep in mind that 1) I play in a semi competitive but friendly store and also at home with friends and 2) I wanted Orc boyz in this army and don't care that savage orcs are in everyone elses lists. I don't like the minis as much and can't imagine an Orc and gobbo army without Orc boyz.

Orc war boss (with the big uns)
Enchanted shield, light armor, luckstone

Night goblin big boss ( in Ng unit)
Bsb, light armor, opal amulet

Goblin big boss on giant wolf (with wolf riders)
Light armor, spear, shield

2x night goblin shamans level 1 (in ng unit)

24 Orc big uns full command

38 night goblins with spears and shield, full command
Netters, 2 fanatics

5 goblin wolf riders, musician, spear, shield, bows

1 goblin wolf chariot

1 goblin spear chukkah

1000 pts on the dot

Any suggestions?

Not a fan of chukkas, divers or Lobbas are better.

Also I'm assuming that you bosses have gws?

I too would drop the single chukka, they're just not very impressive without a battery of them. I'd rather spend those points on upgrading your characters a bit. Few options:

Fighty Warboss + Tricksy Cowboy
*Sword of Anti-Heroes for warboss
*Dragonbane Gem for boss on wolf (or Dragonhelm if you drop the warboss' luckstone)

Protecty Warboss + Tricksy Cowboy
*Talisman of Endurance for warboss (drop luckstone)
*Dragonhelm for boss on wolf

Moar Magicks
*Drop both level 1 shamans
*Drop warboss' luckstone
*Take level 3 night goblin great shaman

Moar Magicks: Part II
*Biting Blade for warboss
*Ruby Ring of Ruin for warboss (or anybody really)

Or some combination there of. Basically my objectives are any to all of these:

*More offense on the warboss
*More defense on the warboss
*Fire ward on the wolf boss
*Stronger magic phase (= more spells and/or higher level wizard)

And as you've gathered, I'm not a fan of the luckstone on a character with only a 4+ save. Most often that means you're rerolling a 5+ or 6+? Which I guess is a thing for 5 points ... but I just prefer the fire ward on the cowboy a little more.

Otherwise the list is cool, very "Warhammer" in the best way - fluffy, full of variety, not intensely competitive (aka lots of fun )

Thanks for the replies. To answer the first question about the bosses having GWs, the answer is no. It probably makes sense to give the Orc war boss one, but I can't give one to the BSB and I don't see the point of giving one to the big boss on the wolf.

I don't think the spear chukkah is going to be that great either. I wanted to squeeze a doom diver in the list but I couldn't make it work at this point level. I am concerned about the almost total lack of shooting in my list. Arbiter, I see your point about more magic. I am still getting the hang of 8th edition and one thing I have noticed is that magic is very powerful at 1000 points compared to 6th edition. Last night I played against wood elves with my Brets and despite a good start, was torn apart by a level 3 caster after my level 2 damsel miscast and went to level 0. I am not a fan of "Lords" being allowed in small games, but it doesn't ruin the game for me.
